Just started looking into DIY. I was reading the safety warnings. I knew that diacetyl may not be safe, but also saw the mention of cream flavors being an issue. I've only tried Flavorz by Joe premade so far, but one is Papa Smurf and it's described as creamy. Would this have the cream flavor that might be an issue? How would I find out. It might be in some flavors that don't have a description of everything in it.

I'm a bit daunted by DIY, but if it's another way to control exactly what we vape then that's another positive in addition to the savings.

I've only tried Flavorz by Joe and some from a local store that makes their own. The Flavorz stuff was much better than the stores and they use Flavor West flavoring, which they said Mt. Baker does as well? I didn't do an extensive test and I was using a Clearo in the store compared to my preferred carto, so that might have been part of the problem, but I guess I'm wondering if making DIY at home can get me the quality of the stuff by Joe and also what flavors would I buy to get something better than Flavor West?

Maybe they are good, but I can only go by my experience and would rather start with something with a higher chance of meeting my preferences.

Its funny people are complaining about the safety hazards of vaping, no one seemed to care about the ingredients in packs of cigarettes!!

Here is one: Hydrogen cyanide is a poisonous gas. Of all the chemicals in tobacco smoke, it does the most damage to the heart and blood vessels. <------That junk is in batteries!

True. I never questioned cigarettes. I just smoked them. Heard about the huge amount of chemicals in them and continued smoking them. If I didn't question cigs, I'm not concerned about vaping. Don't blame anyone who is concerned, just saying I'm definitely not.

Some people do seek tobacco with less chemicals. Some people even grow their own and roll their own. Very good quality that would make you toss your store bought. I vape because DIY tobacco was so good that I realized I may never quit cigs.

Then criticism because some people want answers. Give me a break.

Yeah, I'm still rolling my own with high quality tobacco. The downside was I saved so much that money was less of a reason to quit. It's just as cheap or cheaper than vaping. I also was repulsed with big tobaccos quality after smoking just one pack of DIY. However, I'm now in the process of quitting, with vaping as a stepping stone. I don't want to stay vaping either and nothing wrong with doing it as safely as possible. I want to learn to build my own RBA/RDA, but it's a bit too much hassle at the moment.

So no one really mentioned the cream flavoring. Are there known chemicals to look for to avoid that make up the cream and pasty flavors to avoid? Just wondering since you guys seem to be saying some of these companies are up front with the ingredients that maybe there's something we can look for besides diacetyl?

I hope you're not saying we should ignore the hazards of vaping just because we ignored the hazards of smoking....

Excellent link and would make that company the first I'd look to if I decide to tackle DIY.

You aren't saving anything, even making your own e-juice? I've seen some people say they're spending .10-.70 cents a ml on juice. Right now I'm buying juice and cartos. If I make my juice I'll be saving over rolling my own, I'd think. If I also started doing rebuildables, it would be damn near free. ;)

Some companies cream flavors and beyond...yes....others no. FA has a complete line made for vaping that do not contain any of those chemicals. Diacetyl, acetoin, and Acetyl propionyl are the 3 to look out for. Not as easy as it may sound, however. Flavour Art and The Flavor Apprentice are currently the only ones (as mentioned earlier), that I'm aware of, that have it spelled out in their listings. Word has it that Capella is working on a Vaper's line that will also not include any of the 3 chemicals.

We should not ignore hazards at all, but we should pay more attention to the hazards of smoking rather than scrutinizing vaping.

Vaping is not smoking. We already know the risks of smoking. We don't know the risks of vaping - but many of us in the vaping community are doing more than 'not ignoring', we're striving to learn, identify, and avoid the potential risks wherever possible.

Many of us that did not scrutinize (or ignored) the hazards of smoking are now examining the potential risks of vaping. There's absolutely nothing "anti vaping" about desiring to learn as much as possible to be able to vape as safely as possible.

Quoted because it needs said twice.
