specs: The 10ml bottle of Creamy Chai I purchased from ThePlumeRoom contains an almost clear liquid with a slight purplish tint---24mg nic strength in a 50/50 PG/VG base. Testing was done using a 2.4 ohm Ultimate CE2 clearomizer on a Penguin mints VV mod set to 4.4 volts, for a power output of 8.1 watts.
Like balsamic vinegar in the 1980s, chai beverages have appeared by the dozen in the American marketplace over the past decade or so. The word chai itself is used as a synonym for tea is many parts of the non-English-speaking world, but, here in America, it has come to be associated with sweet, spicy tea blends made from (or made to resemble) the Indian chai masala.
Spices used in the original include cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and pepper. Retail chai beverages often use artificial spice flavorings. When unsweetened these spices or flavorings dont taste particularly good in tea, but sweetening brings out the wonderful flavor of the spice mix.
The only chai Ive personally had is a low-carb yogurt from Fred Meyer (a grocery chain in the Pacific Northwest) called Chai Vanilla. Its yummy.
Creamy Chai from ThePlumeRoom is an unusual flavor for my chai-inexperienced palate, and nothing like the yogurt I referred to above. I dont have sufficient experience to know if the taste is authentic---by this point, the number of mass-produced faux-chai products in the marketplace, most of which are synthetic, has probably made that determination difficult for ordinary Americans who never tasted real chai masala---but, whatever mix of spice flavorings Andrea used, the result is not overly spicy. Rather than the vanilla of my chai yogurt, I presume that the recipe here is more tea-like, with a milky or creamy dairy component.
Vapor production is copious and throat hit strong, as one would expect from a 50/50 base at 24mg nic. The juice is well-made and performs very nicely. As with so many juices, judgment in this review will come down to flavor.
Is it good? Let me put it this way. I get the feeling that this is one of those vapes with a mysterious, even possibly confusing beginning for the vaper that may build into marvelous staying power. What this means is that Im not in love with it after 15 minutes of vaping, but, on the other hand, I havent put it down, either. I continue to vape it while my brain says, Hmmm. Interesting.
ThePlumeRoom Creamy Chai grade: B+ (with a possible bullet up the charts). Good work, Andrea!
