Sorry to hear that.

Makes me feel bad for all the people wanting to start vaping and the first thing that happens is this. I could've very well been one of those people has I not found out about FT first. I don't say this often, but PP ftmfw.

Yes, I am far more comfortable using PayPal for my purchases.

I used a new to me vender last week to purchase the Innokin iTaste VV V3 Variable Voltage/Wattage E-Cig for work. First thing this morning I had an email asking if I tried to purchase almost $400 of stuff from walmart.com. No I didn't :( Guess I'll look in to the prepaid thing.

Tracey

So who whas this "new to you vendor"?

Lots of this is going around, and many folks would like to know.

I ordered my Innokin iTaste VV V3 from Smoke Evolution on June 13. I couldn't find it anywhere else that day and HAD to have it then. I ordered a few weeks prior from my regular vendors, Vapor Alley, Fuzion, Vapor God, and Mr. E.

If you're going to use PayPal (and we all do sometimes), it's best to link it to a checking account that keeps a minimum balance and fund that account with one at the same bank. If you also opt for the PayPal MasterCard Debit Card, link that one back to the black hole checking account. Someone might compromise your PayPal account, but in order to get to the real source of funds and credit, they'd have to hack your bank account, too.

I have about $0.33 in my PayPal account and all of $10.00 in what used to be my "Poker Account."

Back in the day, I played A LOT of online poker. If you think CC fraud is rampant with e-cigs and other electronics dealers, you should have been around a virtual poker table about 10 years ago...

Edit to add: Also, don't discount the likelihood that your own security has been compromised. If your system is infected with malware or a keystroke recorder, nothing you do to protect yourself out on the matrix will help you.

DO NOT USE MICROSOFT INTERNET EXPLODER FOR ONLINE COMMERCE.

If you do, you are asking for identity theft. I don't care what Redmond tells you about Exploder, that software is absolutely riddled with security holes. Use Firefox, Chrome or Safari. And, get LavaSoft's AdAware for virus and malware protection. It's free for personal use and its security is as strong as goat's breath.

It has been almost one year to the day since I had my CC# stolen. Last year I was out of town and VISA called to check on suspicious charges and had to shut down my VISA while I was out of town.

I had my bank send me a second, separate VISA that is only used for e-cig online purchases and Amazon. I generally check my bank account online every day or two, but have not for the past ten days since I do not like using a hotels WIFI to log into my account. Well, they did it again. My online card has been hacked again. $99.99 to I Tunes went through, and VISA fraud alert stopped a second $99.99 charge which will be credited back to my account after filling out the form VISA is sending to me along with a new card.

Much less hassle this time since the only real inconvenience is I have to hold off on ordering a few e-cig purchases for a few days. If I had been logging into my account as usual, I would have been able to save the bank from losing the first $99.99 bogus charge.

have you done this successfully? that's what I planned on doing and placed an order Monday and has said "payment pending" since then and vendor hasn't been paid

Almost exclusively. There are a few vendors of other products, and a few government agencies that I trust enough to use a fully funded account. But if it's not someone I know by name or trust, I use the Black Hole method.

I wouldn't be able to say. Maybe it's a problem on the vendor's end. Maybe give PayPal customer service a call? Contact the vendor?
