I have also had a prepaid card. The biggest problem I found was they won't support the losses. They can be hacked also. I got better response from my bank putting the money back in my account. The prepaid people didn't seem to care.

Yeah, but here's the trick: Only fund the pre-paid card just before you make a purchase.

Here's what I do:

I go online and fill up my basket(s) and figure out the shipping charges.
I THEN go and put money on the card to cover the purchase(s).
Then I make the purchases.

There's only a few $$$ on the card when not in use.

It's a royal pain. I could do it via my bank (I think) but they charge more fees than the pre-paid card I'm using. Dumb of them.

Thats what I planned on doing with the bank card, but if I can do that with the other two options, thats the route I'll take. More good information, thanks.

Right now I'm stuck waiting for my replacement card. Doing things the old fashioned way, going to the bank and getting money on their time and not mine is a pain.

I don't trust banks after a huge $$$$$ mistake in their behalf from my account many years ago. Oh I got the money back 90 days later but closed the account so I keep money safely in a safe here at home. I know what you are thinking: anyone can lift that and walk with it. This is true but can they do this with it weighing 75lbs and while wresting not only a 120lb Johnson American Bulldog but a 100 lb German Shepherd and a 88lb Siberian Husky? By then there is a 9mm pointing at their pretty little head with a voice saying "Move and I will make your birth certificate useless".

In all seriousness though, I use nothing but a Wally World Pre-Paid Visa for everything. Even making my Child Support Payments. She has one card I have the other. Then I have my personal one from Wally World.

I hope I am not breaking a rule by saying the name but I use Simple Bank for online purchasing. It is really just a debit card and I can easily transfer over money to it from my regular bank as needed. Simple has great online tools, a mobile app, and when you call customer service the phone is answered by an actual person (no press any number and we will promptly disconnect you).
