Perhaps i should put the 747N to bed and stockpile standard 747's.

I don't know anything about the 747"N" but I like the all mechanical 747 just fine though and all things considered I would rather have a mechanical mod over anything with a circuit board. But that's just my opinion. Less to go wrong.

Thanks for your observations VaporTrails and borockster. Thank you fogdaddy for the very generous offer to include the transformer with the box mod. I'm gonna wait until the echo dc's come in and place an order. Not sure which unit yet. I like the size of the 510-N and if it could work with the 4.8v batts that would be great. Did Bauway ever get back to you about the switch capability fogdaddy? I wish the manu's would just put 5A switches in everything lol. Standard AW batts would be nice too.

I really need to satisfy my curiousity about 5ish volts.

Fabsta,
I would go with the standard 747. The mechanical switch is the same one i use in the cropduster box mod . It use's 4.8 volt battery packs . I'm not sure that the N switch section will work with higher volt batteries.
I just got up and i'm not done with my first cup of coffee, as soon as i'm awake i will wire up a 4.8 pack to a 510 switch,if you hear a loud noise that will just be me exploding. If i live through this i will let you know if it works.:danger:

Bauway claims the N switch section is rated at 2.5 amps at 3.7 volts. Not sure if that is 100% correct , they seem to be a little confused about the question.
So far i have hade one DOA , but no other problems with them. I have been useing ultrafire brc 3000ma batteries in my 510N , they are a little longer but fit the unit good. They last longer than the supplied batts. I did order some , they should be in next week. The one's i had are gone now , sent to the lady that got the DOA switch. Another option for the 510N is ultrfire LC 17670 1800mah batt's.

Morning! It's 5 in the afternoon over here  PLEASE DON'T blow yourself up. Maybe wait until you've had a 2nd cup so you have enough caffeine to heighten your response time. As soon as you hear BANG turn your face away from the exploding batt pack while tossing it at least 3 meters into the yard.

OR

we could just wait for china to give us the specs on that switch :p I'll probably land up getting more than just one of your mods. You have so many good ones.

I tried the new dual coil 1.5ohm MEGA cartos from Madvapes. In my opinion they are a waste of money if you vape at less than 4.2 volts. I did not get good performance at all on a 3.7volt unit so I slapped one on my Vari-volt box and cranked it up. They start hitting good at 4.2 volts. Any less and they are meh. At 4.8 they blew my my goatee off. Pardon the smoke... :) They work great on the 747 (with 4.8 NIMH) and the Cropduster box mod.

Good to hear that they work well with fogdaddy's mods. "At 4.8 they blew my my goatee off"

Fabsta,
I have only used them on the 747 and 510N, WOW , they were worth the wait. More vapor, Much more flavor.
I will let you know later today how they work at 4.8 volts.

Thanks. I realize that it's early morning for you and 4.8v might be a bit hectic first thing lol. Look forward to your opinion later

I've got a question: been reading all the messages and not sure what to order. I vape w/510 and 910 attys. and sometimes cartos. I like lots of "heat" and vapor not a real big deal to me. I use an excellent PV (Darwin) and am looking for a secondary/backup unit. I'm used to getting a lot of bang for my battery and the ease of charging it in my car. I vape at +/- 4 volts.

I want a unit that is compatible with attys/tanks/cartos that I purchase from anywhere (brand specific accessories are a no-no).

Not sure which unit w/work best for me: 747/box mod/510. (Size of PV is immaterial to me).
Suggestions?
