I ordered this before doing any research on vaping, otherwise I would have gone with something else. The unit as a whole works great. Lot's of vapor, long battery life, it seems like it's really good quality. Now here comes the big but; the USA Blend tastes like what I imagine you would get if you made a leather and shoe polish smoothie with a dash of old person cologne. It does not taste like tobacco at all. Now if anyone has any info on compatibility with this unit I may keep it, because I'm definitely not buying any more of their crap cartomizers. However, from what I've read, Crown7's equipment is proprietary. It's sad that it's such a nice product. Luckily they have a 30 day money back guarantee. In any case, I think I'm going to go with a 510 kit from HappySmokes.com.

My advice would be to return it and get your money back. I would then suggest you look into a 510 or an eGo.

I got my eGo from cignot.com

Joye eGo

Check it out and good luck! :D

Edit: Oh and I also suggest getting a manual battery!

Welcome to the forum, Fancy.

If it's working, why fix it? Looking over their website, that unit doesn't appear too bad.... not overpriced at all and you say it vapes well.

The Crown 7 cartos must be refillable as they offer blanks and juice on their site. That means you have a ton of juice choices out there to try. Given that, I'd advise checking into a few juice suppliers and seeing what taste works best for you with the unit you have on hand. (Most of the juice that comes with starter kits leaves alot to be desired.)

If that Crown 7 stops working for you, then at least you know an alternative. :D

I picked up a crown seven imperial without doing much research and been using it lightly in the evenings for about 5 days and can't complain so far, haven't had to charge it yet. It is the only one I've tried though. Also, I haven't had a traditional cigarette in about 5 days so working so far.

My buddy has had his crown seven hydro imperial for over a month and started using e-liquid that crown seven sold him over the phone to use after the cartridges that came with the kit no longer work. I'm still on my first cartridge but considering getting a johnson creek sampler pack to refill the original a few times. He showed me how to refill the hydro imperial cartridge. There is a video from a crown seven employee refilling the hydro imperial on youtube.

I guess you can see if it gets gummy and make sure the smoke juice is absorbed into the material by holding it up to a computer screen or a light and see it through the cartridge.

There's a decent vapor with the original cartridges with with the liquid it's definitely better it seems.

Note the Imperial seems to be their newer product, the normal Hydro is their old product which blank cartridges are available for but not compatible with the Hydro Imperial. Yeah I know confusing.. but it looks like one can just refill the ones that come with the kit a few times (comes with 2). A pack of 5 pre-filled cartridges run about 20 dollars but probably refillable a few times too. I heard they are a little shorter than the starter kit cartridges.

So I did some more research and found that the Hydro and Hydro Imperial use the same battery which looks like a fancy 510 battery. The cartomizers and cartridges even look similar. I'm trying to find out if the 510 empty cartomizers work with the hydro/hydro imperial battery. I just got my jc sample kit in and just dip dripped a used cartomizer that crown seven sends with the kit.

Anyone out there try it yet? The batteries are $15 bucks from crown seven but not sure if the cartomizers and batteries are threaded differently. Thanks!

I've been using the hydro imperial for 2 weeks now. I usually had an analog or 3 in the evenings with a drink. I realize the nicotine hit is really hard and really quick with the pre-filled cartomizers they send with the kit. The battery has been pretty solid. The first time I think I got through about 200 drags decent drags, not long ones before it indicated it needed to be charged. I noticed as they get low on battery they get more sensitive. The battery seems to use a sound sensor sensitive to the sound of rushing air. Also I had it all together in my pocket and it nearly burnt a hole in my pocket and the customer service told me to take it apart when not using it. So I do that now.

I've been re-filling the pre-filled cartomizer once they get real weak (i don't get that buzz) and it's been working. 18mg eliquid kicks like a mule pretty happy. I'm going to try to completely stop after 30 days if I can, I still get a little craving but the nicotine hits are quicker than an analog, it comes and goes which actually does the trick. It's been 2 weeks since I had an analog. Another thing that worried me was not know when the cartomizer was finally bad or all used up. I never got a burnt taste but a little weird taste so I guess I know now, it's like the bad taste when you burn analog filter but really subtle. I posted pictures up of the cartomizer I took apart after 2 weeks of light usage in the evenings. I estimate about 210 or so drags on it at 15 drags a day for 14 days. I posted the pictures here since I couldn't post to the "burned cartomizer" thread yet. The element immediately around the filament wire is burned, i'm not sure if this is typical but one day I accidentally let it get so hot it nearly burned a hole in my pants. The glistening is still wet from the eliquid and the surrounding element is browned the eliquid is all the way down to the white but you can see where it gets hot. This is the original long cartomizer that comes with the kit, the 5 pack replacements are shorter. I wanted to put the pics in the "burned cartomizer" thread but can't post there yet and since it's hydro imperial related I thought I'd just share here since that the model that I'm using at the moment.
