Custom grip on my glv

So I wanted a black body and polished caps but didn't want to paint my polished glv. It looks too nice to sand so I started thinking. After trying a few thing I ended up having a "Eurika!!!" moment. So I headed down to lowes and picked up some black plasti grip. It is a rubber dip used for putting handles on tools so I think it should be durable and it gives the grip a tad of cushion while making it very non slip. Also if I dont like it I can cut the rubber off and am left with my original finish. I present to you my personalized glv with rubber body.

Well since I have had a few questions and pms I figured I would just give a full description of how I did it.

I used liquid plasti dip, so you have to actually dip it. I used clay to plug one end then used my finger to dip the bodys tube into the plasti dip slowly until I just started covering the start of the top threads then pulled it out slowly. I placed the tube on a box clay side down and put a screwdriver through the body from top to bottom, piercing the box and holding the body vertical. After about 4 hours it dries and I used a knife to cut the extra plastic off the threads, leaving just a tiny bit on the thread area so the body looks smooth where it transitions and to give it a good sealing grip. Hope this helps!

Ok so an update...

I have had the glv in my pocket for almost a week with its new coating and I will say this stuff is really tough. My battery cap shows some wear and tear but not the rubber. I had it with my keys and carried it with me while working and it took the abuse. My job is not forgiving so it was abused. I will try to show pics later but honestly they will likely look just like the original ones I posted lol.
