I keep hearing mention of people making or getting customized doors for their Reos.
I have seen the cool ones that Rob makes available. But I have only seen a few photos of anything else.
Rumor has it there are Reos out there with a variety of different customized doors.
To me, I think that the design of the Reo offers a pallet that is perfect for an endless number of variations. (I hope I am making sense)

Since I am one of those who likes to look at all the pretty pictures I thought it would be fun if there was a thread where people could show off their altered/customized Reos.
If there is already a thread for this please forgive me. I didn't see one.

Myself, I am considering making a few that I can switch out as my mood changes.
But maybe I am just a little bit weird. I hope I'm not the only one.

I still say this would be a great little side business. Buying a bunch of Reo Grand doors from Rob (bulk discount) and engraving, painting or any other customizing you can think of and offering them up for sale. If I had absolutely any artistic talent what so ever I would be doing this right now.

Well I've seen the doors with the reo carved in them and thought they looked amazing. I wonder if I asked nicely if I could get him to carve me one with Singed Vapor on it ;) and you are right, the fact that reo's come in so many different colours and styles leaves so much room for personalization

One of these is nail polish and one is alcohol inks, the one in my avi is alcohol inks too from blem doors, didn't touch the originals so I can switch them. The brass door is some patterned brass I had laying around. It's thin so tin snips, a metal hole punch and files were all that were needed.

Your purple one is just gorgeousssssssssssssss!!! When you say "alcohol" inks..........if I have a slew of Copic markers and they are alcohol based, do you think they would work?

If we werent so darn busy at work, I'd have our sheet metal guys punch out a pile of doors to play with and break out the airbrush... Its been packed away since I quit racing rc cars.

Some ideas I have:
Realistic flames
Hot rod flames
Color shifting paint
Clear coated galvanized...heavy spangle.
Polished copper

Ahhh... Pipe dreams

One day maybe I'll get a round toit... Lol

They might, I'd try it. I used these Tim Holtz® Adirondack® Alcohol Inks | Ranger Ink and Innovative Craft Products and that blending solution. Good stuff, it blends and cleans up...might work with your markers too, idk. Those doors were clear coated, the inks do wear off if you don't. I might need to put those markers on my Christmas list. :)
