Your phone has been confiscated for some reason, seems to be for import taxes. Call the number (219-8799) and try to get someone on the other line who speaks English. You should be receiving something in the mail with a few numbers listed on it as well.

Thanks for your help Synyster!

This morning I got the notification by hand delivery, and called them. I was worried. But after 2 min of chat, they said that all they required from me, was a was fax saying that it's an iPhone, and what the value is. I said $800 and they told me it would cost ¥2.200.

I don't have a fax machine anymore, (who even does) so I wrote my name and phone number, contents and value etc. right on the customs slip, snapped a quick pic with my iPhone, cropped and mailed. All in 30 seconds flat. hehe. Modern technology for you :p. I called about an hour ago to check, and they said it will be here in the morning.

Anyway, I am SO relieved. The iPhone isn't even mine, I got it for a friend in Vietnam, and I'm leaving on Saturday! This whole iPhone saga has been a month of hassle for me. Then when it finally arrived in Japan, but getting bonded, it just seemed like the last straw.

I have renewed faith in the Japanese officials. Not that I ever lost faith - but now it's doubled. My friend had lied on the waybill, saying there were art supplies in the package. They could have got nasty, or charged me a ton, or wasted my time, or sent it back etc. (or in some countries KEPT it), but this being Japan, they obviously didn't.

I ordered it and my sister sent it over labelled as a gift... She can't remember the tracking number... Urghhh.... I've got a funny feeling customs have suddenly got stricter with regards to eliquids...

Mike, they will let you know. If it arrives in Japan you will get it. I have never, ever had a parcel go missing or not arrive. When did she post it? She can go to her local PO if she has the date and rough timing of her posting, they can look it up. Everything is stored electronically these days.

For some reason, the customs office doesn't understand. I tried to send my brother who is an electronics geek an old iPhone. First it was the battery can't be shipped by air, returned. Then I tried by ship, returned. Then I took the battery out and left it in two halves and they still said batteries can not be shipped. I tried to tell them, even show them, there was no battery and they still wouldn't ship it. It just never passed the "x-ray" or something or other. I gave up after that. A friend went to Hawaii and shipped the phone from there to my brother in California with no problem.
They are crazy sometimes.

Mbot, I have sent at least 10 parcels with batteries from Japan since the ban, (I supply 2 family members and one friend, in other countries, with ecigs etc.) and twice inside Japan. Once to a member here in the JP forum who kindly helped me with my BoxMod.

I just Add the 'other' things in the parcel on the contents list and conveniently 'forget' about the batteries. Not saying anyone else should do it. Just telling it like it is lol.

Well you are lucky. I'm jealous. I put chocolate wrapped in foil, with pens and other things, but they always came back.
Never had a problem coming in, but leaving always gave me a problem. It probably is the iPhone shape they don't like, I mean once I did it without batteries and it still cam back. The local post office saw me open the box and show them there was no battery and they refused to resend it when it was returned.

The tracking number is also on the receipt she got. If she still has it. But some tracking only works until it leaves the U.S. I have never had a problem with juice.

Go to another PO, (not your local) put it in a box and in a larger box with other stuff from the ¥100 store. List the stuff as school supplies and novelty gift.

Wait... What do you mean, it came back? Back from where? Not sure if this makes a difference, but I always post my parcels late at night at the 24 hour PO. Every city has one.

It always comes back to my local from Narita. I have tracking number and when I look it up, it stops in Narita and comes back. I've tried different post offices in my town. Still doesn't work for me. Oh well, I have up after my third attempt. At least they always refund my money. You should have seen the lady the last time, she handed me the box and I opened it and asked her to show me a battery. She couldn't of course, but all she said was, not her fault, they stopped it at outbound customs.

Uso!! Too odd!!! Why? Just about a month ago I sent another large parcel with supplies!

OK, I just thought of something. Are you sending it regular mail? That could be the problem. I always use EMS.

Cheers, that's what I'll do then... Pair of socks and an old mobile phone charger...

IDK.. Tell me about this 24hr PO you are talking about. First I have heard of it. At least around my part of town.

Can't remember where you said you are from. But I know there is one in Shinjuku near Yodabashi Camera, then I know about Tokyo's main post office which moved a few years ago. I think it is still near Tokyo station. I went there several times for posting emergency parcels back in the day, and before I knew about the one loser to me.

The entire post office isn't open. Just a small area and one widow for posting of parcels.

I go to my a local 24 hour PO which is in Aoto, about a 15 min drive away. I heard that all the main cities have them. I don't now how to find all of them. Ask a Japanese person, or the omawarisans at the koban, or at a post office. They should know.

Cool to know. Unfortunately, none here in Hachimanyama. :(
