I made a rookie mistake and ordered the 24mg juice from Johnson Creek. Being an old 2+-pack-a-day ultralite smoker I figured that would be best, but I didn't take into account my smoking style. Most of my day is spent sitting in front of a computer and I tend to draw a lot, and with the 24mg stuff I can already tell I'm getting way to much nicotine. I've read quite a bit here about cutting the stuff, but I wanted a little feedback:

According to what I've read I need to use 50% JC with 40% VG and 10% PG to cut this stuff in half.. sound about right?

Also: Assuming I can get the PG and VG cheap enough and find a flavor I like, am I not saving even more money by buying high strength juice and cutting it myself? Seems like a no-brainer - 1oz high strength JC makes 2oz low strength.

Thoughts?

i can't say from experience, cuz im pretty new to this too, but i read the forums alot & ask alot of questions...ppl say don't use more than 30% vg, it tends to gunk up atomizers, if u do go above, thin it out with alcohol or water...ppl often get bigger strengths & dilute to save $...just be sure u don't dilute too much or u lose flavor, its suggested to dilute it & add extra flavoring (or 0mg of same flavor) if the flavor goes down too much...

btw, check this thread...http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...e-calculator-added-quantity-calculations.html

You could try picking up some Wilton's brand glycerin (it is used to make cake icing soft). I got mine at hobby lobby, but I have heard you can get it at Walmart or any other craft store. I usually mix my juice 50/50 with the Wilton's (which is VG and doesn't gunk up my atty) and I get a ton of vapor and a good taste out of it. The thing about cutting the juice is that it also cuts the flavor. I think I am actually going to go maybe an 80/20 next time because I don't think I'm getting enought nic. Hope this helps!

First post, I found this site ( thank the Lord) but my first read was on all of the people that were suffering from anxiety from what they believe is the PG. I order my e-cigs this week from Totally Wicked eLiquid and I stupidly ordered the 18MG m/boro. I wish I had gone with the lowest nicotine level.
I am worried that I might end up with anxiety now after reading all of the folks that did and mentioned it on here.

If I understand you correctly I can mix the VG with the 18MG m/boro to cut it down? Is there already PG in the 18MG m/boro?
The VG is not suppose to promote anxiety. Is this true?
I just don't want to have a bad experience as I venture out into the new world of e-cigs.

My goal is to stop all together and wean off of the nicotine.

Please advise.
Thank you in advance.

I've never seen anything about PG or VG promoting anxiety.
Too much nicotine might do that though. :D

I make up my own "cutting fluid" with 90% VG and 10% 100 proof vodka. The 100 proof vodka is half ethanol and half distilled water so I get 5% of each in the mix. This helps thin the VG and the alcohol is supposed to improve throat hit. I cut 36mg liquid to 24mg by adding 1/3 of my cutting fluid to 2/3 nic liquid. The same ratio should cut 24mg liquid to 16mg.

If you want to make things as simple as possible, just cut your liquid with pure PG. There are many places you can order it online, or you can get it at the drugstore (ask at the pharmacy counter) or someplace like Hobby Lobby (with the cake decorating supplies).

Yes you can mix the wilton's with whatever liquid you want and it will cut down the nicotine (and the taste). I haven't heard anything about pg or vg bases promoting anxiety, but I know that if you have more nicotine in your system than you are used to you might feel a little anxious. So if you took your whole bottle of 18mg juice and mixed it with and equal amount of wilton's your juice would end up being about 9mg nicotine content. And you would have twice as much juice!

I think that a lot of anxiety issues people experience when they first quit may be related to the body withdrawing from all the chemicals in cigs. The problem is that at the same time people are starting vaping they are also withdrawing from cigs so it's hard to tell if it's a withdrawal problem or a reaction to something in the e-liquid. I have had anxiety issues for years and I have actually found that they seem to be less since I started vaping.

Of course take all of that with a grain of salt, because I am definitely not a doctor, I'm just reporting what I have experienced :).

Same here, Moonflame. I have noticed less anxiety since I got off the analogs.

That's exactly the cutting mixture I use 90% VG and 10% Vodka. For me the mixture works like a charm with non-flavored juice. Cutting flavored juice of course dilutes the flavor. I've never cut with PG at all, wouldn't even know where to get it!

the only thing I have ever noticed is a bit of a head "buzz" (I guess the begining of a head ache... never get the actual head ache though... boy thats a tough one to explain) from to much nicotine...

I have heard that some people are allergic to PG... I just dont like pg cause of the smell and taste... I have not heard any ill effects of vg... but then again ... havent really looked as I do not seem to have any (ill effects).

I cut my 24 mg juice in half... then flavor... or with the already flavored i cut it about a third... so flavored juice 1/2 to 3/4 and then I add vg... I like my juice a bit thicker ... but I am using the JS which likes thicker juice (imo).

hope this helps?

One thing I learned about Johnson Creek Juices, if you try to cut them with an unflavored VG OR PG, you also cut the flavor. So my suggestion is to get a 0 Nic of the same flavor, and mix that way to cut nicotine. You may only need 1 bottle to cut 2 or 3 of the higher nic, so although this is not cost-cutting you may be happier with the outcome. It will allow you to cut the nicotine as needed without curbing the taste. If you want, use the E Juice Recipe Calculator to help find the right combination.

For instance, 20 ml of 24mg/ml ADD 10ml of 0 nic to get a 30 ml batch of 16mg/juice. You can do the math on how many bottles of each to get to come out even!
