So i work in a hospital as a corpsman, I was talking to one of my patients about the new ecig. I informed him that it was a much safer alternative to smoking. He in turn informed me that the juice in ecig causes hypoxia. . SO OMG the person who has researched this and talked to doctors that he works with every day has NO CLUE about the "dangers" of ecigs. God i hate the stupidty of the American public. So danger danger danger you will die of hypoxia if you smoke ecigs
As for my house, VAPE ON!!!:vapor::vapor:

p.s. I could be wrong but i have looked around and can't find anything if someone has a link to some research please let me know. Edited for correct info! oops

Hmmm... hypoxia is NOT caused by any bubbles. Hypoxia, or hypoxiation, is a pathological condition in which the body as a whole (generalized hypoxia) or a region of the body (tissue hypoxia) is deprived of adequate oxygen supply.
Bubbles in blood stream cause air (or, generally, gas) embolism. It's very dangerous for divers - so called decompression sickness.

Of course both hypoxia and embolism have nothing to do with vaping.

This is what the guy told me. He tried to preach to me about the woes of ecigs and the bubbles it puts in your blood stream. Sorry for the wierd post but he really made me mad lol. Its ok i went to the bathroom and vaped.

Lol Your patient like most has no idea what he's talking about, there are alot of things that can cause hypoxia. the treatment for hypoxia is high flow oxygen, which by the way can also cause a failure in the hypoxic drive in some COPD patients. Which basically means they won't breathe on their own and have to be put on a vent until they can be weaned off high o2 levels.
Back on topic though nothing in e-cigs can cause hypoxia as far as I know, the worst you have to worry about as far as I've been able to find out is a sensitivity to PG juices.
The hypoxia info is from years of training as a paramedic, the rest is from reading and a discussion with my Dr. :)

A remedial reading class for some wouldn't hurt either...

OP, I understood your first post! It's sad that some folk just talk out their azz and spread bad info.

I'd have told him "Since there is no burning and therefore no oxygen-consuming combustion, that the body is not deprived of any oxygen when vaping - unlike smoking - I hope you would continue to use this argument on cigarette smokers however, because it won't make you look as stupid."

These very stories are why we need to be progressive and vocal about e-cigs / pv's and make sure the public starts talking about it in a more educated light.

OP Patient's advice somehow reminds me of the dummy text we use for a diagnostic note in my software development shop. It gets funny as it goes on...

"Free text description of diagnosis. Can be anything from Obstructive sleep apnea-needs CPAP titration f/u with Dr. Pain to Chronic Ear acuphens, ear congestion to difficulty reading, sweating, painful unrination, loss of consciousness, violent convulsions, spontainious decapitation, and grim bloody death. If you have any of these symptoms freak out, run in circles while screaming at the top of your lungs. If you are on fire, please do not attempt to extinguish yourself by rubbing on others."
