Picked up a Dark Horse rda at a swap meet, there were several available and I grabbed the one that did not look beat up and had the Dark Horse logo on the side. It also has markings on the bottom of the deck;
The words "Designed in the USA", a 5 digit S/N, and a laser engraved logo that strangely looks like a black and white cloud.
How do I tell what an authentic Dark Horse looks like.
Thanks

The markings on the bottom won't tell you much really. I have two clones and one of them has the same markings as the authentic. Best way to tell is the color of the AFC ring. No authentic Dark Horses were made with anything other than stainless AFC rings that I know of. So if your AFC ring is Black or Copper or anything other than stainless it's a clone.

Aside from whether you paid "authentic" prices or not, if it vaporizes juice, what does it matter?
The dark horse is unsafe. the deck is not milled to the posts on most of them. And the posts fall off and you have hammer them back in from what I have heard. I would NEVER buy a RDA that has posts that are not milled into or attached to the deck. LINK TO PICTURE If it looks like this it's a fake

Unsafe? Never heard that one before. I own two Dark Horse clones and both have been just fine. The one I use exclusively every day, I rebuild about once every week and it's still in one piece.

I bought a clone from ebay for 12 dollars. the post fell out. If the post falls out that would mean that, somthing that makes heat can cause fire. Im just honestly being honest. If the posts are not milled to the deck it has the potential to fall out or be twist and turn while tightening the screws down. I had to hammer my post in. I got a full refund and got to keep my Dark Horse. But was still a disappointment. Link . For this price you can find a clone or an authentic that will last allot longer with allot more quality. (One good thing is the drip tip is heat resistant which I use on other tanks. I got a nice drip out of it) :banana:

Have you heard the story about the mod that blew up from behind the bar? Link Sometimes, Unsafe.

Weird, I have the Infinite darkhorse clone and experienced none of these things and absolutely LOVE mine.

If it's a cheap clone, like I just bought, be careful . The one you bought, the posts might be milled in from the bottom. Dark Horse is a sexy RDA IMO. Always look at the posts when choosing an RDA. If you notice Fast Teck RDA's Even though they might be cheap In cost, some are built quite well. Not all of them, but check if the posts are milled into the deck. That's number 1, to me. IMO.

95% of mishaps that happen are due to user error. To say an atomizer is unsafe is incorrect. Putting a post back in by way of hammer and then using it that way, is unsafe. I've seen plenty of videos and articles on mods malfunctioning. All with the exception of a few were user error. Something on video blowing up behind a bar is a moot point unless you know what it was and how it was being charged.

She say's to me ''Unsafe? Never heard that one before'' Now she has!!!

Let me go back to what I was saying about a cheaply made CLONE! And what I did. I bought a clone from ebay 12 dollars. I took kanthal and wraped 8 loops then pushed both ends into the post holes. I tightened them down. And clipped the ends off. Put the RDA on my device to test the coils and had to tighten the screws more. WHen I did that the posts turned (twisted to the right) So I turned them back to straight again. I tried it again and one of the posts fell off!!

User error NO Not user error. What I did was normal. A quality RDA can take a beaten. And i didn't even beat it. It was my second build on it. It was brand new. And yes If posts fall out. That means It's UNSAFE! FACT! Trying to help. Tell you guys truth. If you look at that atty in my post previously you will notice the posts are not connected to the deck. They are not ONE piece. What it is is: 2 whole dug out and two post one on left and one of right pushed into the wholes on the deck. When those wholes on dek get loose the posts fall out. If I was wrong why did the guy give me my money back with, no fuss what so ever. And, he let me keep the .... boat atty? Obviously he agreed with me. It was 12 dollars. Trust me Im gentle when I build I use a small screw driver and 26 guage maybe 24 Kanthol.

I have all the rights In the world to say an RDA Is UNSAFE. What if it fell out when i was firing it? Then I fire It It falls off onto me and burn me. BULL....! Ill never buy another RDA, even close to what the Darkhorse Is. I don't care what brand makes it. 3 post desige is weak to me anyways the coil is never fully centered. 4 posts or 2 posts thats what I like.
:2c:

One more thing. I hammered the post back into the whole. I did what the factory workers did when they made the stupid thing. Also this RDA is made for 24 gauge -20 gauge Kanthal builder anyways. Not for me. That's why they put 2 mm holes In the post holes.
