As for the anything with a top cap being dated - not for me.
I feel the passthrough mods that are being called a "hybrid" are simply a cheap workaround to avoid having a decent design and materials.
There are plenty of mods with a center pin that have been tested by JKuro, and have 0 v drop, and were properly tested from a regulated power source.

Personally, I prefer hybrids but only for their reduction in size. My Tamerlan came without a top cap. It only had a hybrid adapter. It is super small with an 18650 in it. Not much bigger than the battery itself and hits great.

But yeah, modders using decent materials can avoid much of a voltage drop. Here's my Glas Ti+ for instance.

strange, i guess i'm the only one that thought the nemesis was one of the easiest mods to use, never had a problem with the button or battery wobble. the only reason i sold mine was i enjoy the stingray so much more, it's basically a hybrid updated nemesis that looks better (imo).

also crazy how fast the bcv stuff got cheap, i saw an authentic xxix in excellent condition going for a hundred bucks the other day.

This topic is funny because the "dated" mods are what all other mods were built off of and are still amazing. The Nemmy and Chi were and still are great mods that anyone can work and anyone can figure out without much difficulty. Thinking those are now dinosaurs is a huge misconception.

i don't think anyone here thinks that they're junk all of a sudden now that updated designs have come out, i think most of us are reminiscing how we lusted after these mods not even a year ago and having a good laugh at how they've gone from being new and hard to get, to your average everyday beater mods.

like i said above, i think the nemmi is still one of the most fool proof designs, with no fiddling require ever (imo). shame most mods these days have gone the reccessed button with double adjustable top cap design, which personally for me results in battery wobble all the time.

I'm the one that said that about the chi you, but I still use mine as well as the nemesis from time to time.

they still work great but the marked has evolved so much that there are better options (at least for me), 4nine and the smpl are great examples of this. I don't think these will be dated, they have the simplest minimal design that makes them atemporal

Now that I've read and seen a lot about GG's, I kinda like them, but mainly because of a mod the "GG purist" don't lika as much...

I think you are referring to the GG4S ;) Which is an AMAZING mod (IMHO). I have been collecting gg for 5 years and have at least one of every mod and atty that has been released in that time - I don't know if that makes me a "purist" or not but the gg4s has become my all-day mod.
Funny thing about the side-switch being a dated design - the GG slim is a bottom-firing mech mod with an adjustable atty contact pin that came out over 4 years ago. In many ways it is the predecessor for most modern bottom-switch mech mods.

Does anyone even remember Trog and the screwdriver? Pretty sure he's the bloke that coined the term "Mod".

As for GG side buttons, It's nice to stand a device on end and NEVER worry it will autofire. The new GG4S, however will probably be my first and only Monkey style unit.

My "dated" device(s) are my Apex Ultramaxs and Ultras. They are vaping history.

Cheers

My
Wife uses a brass Chi with flat top cap every day.

I still rock my stainless King (clone), and think the knurled brass king is one of the best mods ever made.
My brass knurled king clone is flawless and has never given me a single problem. I only set it aside when I get new gear, but it always returns to the daily rotation.

Heck yeah, I do! I will post a pic of my original screwdriver when I get home tonight and pull it out of the museum collection.
I would agree with your "mod" statement because the screwdriver is, in actuality, just a modified flashlight body but the gg was designed from the ground-up to be a vaporizer battery tube. They came out at the same time but the screwdriver more technically matches the definition of a "mod" IMHO.

EDIT:
Threw in The Joker and Carlos' Juice Box, which aren't mechs but are "dated"

Yes I'm referring to GG4S, wich is amazing!

I don't own a lot of mods, I've had 4, and still have 3 today, and have tried a few from friends at local bm vape shop, but it's, from far, the best switch I've seen (the second is the MCV Biomech, recessed with lockring, spring and a medium throw).

What is incredible is the fact that it can stand without any risk of auto fire, even with my full kayfun lite on. It only fires when you want it to.

Really a great mod, with sober and clever design!
