Agreed. However there is one thing to keep in mind about Dave: Quintuple bypass.

Nicotine isn't good for the heart. As a standalone ingredient it is a vasoconstrictor. If he has had trouble quitting, this would probably be better than the cigars. But if he did manage to quit, then he is better off without any of the nicotine given his surgery.

The guy cant get out of bed with out the conspiracy nuts accusing him of something. There is no way you're gonna see Obama endorse, refute, or comment on the E-Cig. nor IMHO should he. I know its important to us all here, but seriously in the scope of the national debates on other topics do you really believe he should expose himself to the anti-smoking fanatics or tobacco industry?

Indeed I will bet even money that if he even touched the things, it was only to hand it to an aid who "disposed" of it immediately.
