I think the best part about it is that she is clearly an intelligent person.
She doesn't come off like someone who would be dumb enough to use a product that is harmful to her.

I guess what I'm trying to say is I don't see people sitting at home thinking to themselves...
"Boy she must really be stupid, doesn't she know those things are bad for you!!"

Actually, she came off as very witty and charming.
Could hardly have gone any better.

Letterman used to smoke 20 cigars a day at one point, according to an interview I read. He had quintuple-bypass surgery in 2000 and gave up smoking. But I just did a quick Google search and found a recent picture of him and Regis Philbin puffing away on stogies, so he still enjoys them, but hopefully not as much as before!

I doubt an electronic cigar would do justice to the real high-quality ones he smokes, but, as someone who used to smoke cheaper cigars, the e-cigar satisfied many of the pleasures of puffing away.

When I saw your handle/name as the last person to post in this thread I wondered if you had something useful to contribute.
As expected, you didn't let me down.
That's OK. I've offered worse in the past. Much worse...and just recently too.

Posted this in one of the numerous Heigl threads, but thought it was worth it to add here:

I just noticed something.... I downloaded a torrent of the entire episode... there's a lot more there. After a break, she's talking about riding her horse and having it "go nuts" on her... Dave picks up an ecig and says, "maybe you should get him on one of THESE", followed by obligatory laughter from the audience. Did anyone else catch it?

That it wasn't the same one that she had been holding? Looked like a supermini, tan cart with white batt (hers was black w/silver batt). Either she gave it to him, or Dave's already a vaper. At the end of the segment, he announces his next guest, and as they fade out, he PICKS IT UP off the desk! Now, what happened after that is anybody's guess... but I'm thinking she just converted him.

HAHA, next thing you know Dave will be hurling PV's through the cityscape behind him!!

Maybe he does use nicotine in some form, but it's been widely reported that he quit smoking stogies after his heart surgery. I still remember the old days when he would swagger around with his foot long cigar dang near the whole show. I think that was before Paul shaved his head.

She may be a vaper, but she's still smoking!

That's not necessarily a bad thing. Again, we have the brain-washing of our wonderful government coming in and telling us that all quantities of smoking are equally harmful. Even one puff during the past month turns you into a "smoker."

Keep two things in mind:

1. Despite the "There is no safe level of tobacco use" message, there are safeR levels. Research clearly shows that there is a "dose-response relationship" seen in smoking. As the dose increases, the amount of physical damage increases. Vapers who still smoke on occasion tend to smoke many fewer cigarettes.
2. There is a growing body of research showing that reducing the number of cigarettes smoked very gradually over time is a viable method of eventually quitting.

Naw, your point is true N.

Looks like there's lots of blogging going on about this. Of course much of it will be hastily thrown together articles like this one which just parrot the FDA findings without any critical analysis. I guess that's to be expected with today's insta-journalism to cater to short attention spans.

What you need to know about e-cigarettes, post-Katherine Heigl

We don't want to be the buzz kill, but the FDA has tested e-cigarette samples and found that they contained carcinogens and diethylene glycol, an antifreeze element.

Pretty presumptuous for this article to claim that they just told you everything you need to know about ecigs when they're so sadly misinformed themselves.
