Ok, I'm day two using my new e-cig which is a 510.

A few questions though. I have kids and therefore I've always smoked outside in my garage and because my kids are 11, 13, & 17 and "patience" isn't in their vocabulary much I've always been kind of a power smoker. Plus smoking during a 10 minutes smoke break for years on end at work has made it to where I can suck down a cigarette in about 2-3 minutes. With that said, I've heard on this forum that a slow steady draw will produce more vapor/flavor. My first question is, does this mean that even after the atty's "broke in" I still have to draw slowly? Also, it seems that to get the vapor I want I end up frying my throat. Is that normal? Will it go away eventually or do I just have to get used to it? I'm feeling like 10mg nic juice wasn't strong enough, because I still want to go outside and smoke an analog. Am I just being impatient in wanting to cut out the analogs? And if not will a stronger nic juice just cook my throat even more?8-o

Welcome to vaping Michelle....

My first question is, does this mean that even after the atty's "broke in" I still have to draw slowly?
You will always have to take long, slow, steady drags off your PV to get good vapor - that's the nature of the beast - if you suck too hard and too quick, you'll end up with a mouth full of nic-juice - you have to give the atty time to vaporize the liquid.

Also, it seems that to get the vapor I want I end up frying my throat. Is that normal? Will it go away eventually or do I just have to get used to it?

Your throat and mouth will take some time to get used to the drier vapor.... PG's a humectant, meaning it draws moisture out of its surroundings (your mouth and throat) and into itself. Your throat WILL adapt. Make sure you have plenty of water handy, try drinking a soda (the acids in most colas will break down the PG residue) to cleanse your soft tissues, and take small puffs at first to get your throat "warmed up." Took me between a week or 2 to get completely comfortable with the drier vape.

Am I just being impatient in wanting to cut out the analogs? And if not will a stronger nic juice just cook my throat even more?

This is a toughie - first, don't beat yourself up if you still want an analog - I tell people to count each and every cigarette you DON'T smoke as a personal victory against tobacco addiction. If you absolutely HAVE to have a cig, have 1. Just 1. Not 2, not 5, not a pack. Just 1. Soon, you'll not want that 1...

For really intense cravings, you can combat them with a drop or 2 of high strength nic-liquid to give you a nic boost.... this usually cuts through the worst of the cravings....

Give yourself time to do this - it's a long, slow process, just like getting hooked on the dam cigs was - you started with 1 or 2, then progressed up the ladder to a pack or more.... and come here for any encouragement you need

If you try to power smoke an electronic cigarette you will vaporize and/or suck all the juice out of the upper portion of the cartridge before it has a chance to wick back up and be replaced. This will cause a plasticky taste and more of a burning sensation in your throat. Not sure if this is what is happening to you, but I do know for sure that power smoking an electronic cigarette probably won't work no matter which model you have.

Heck, I try to take just around 10 puffs in a ten minute time frame and I have a wicking problem.

Right now I am venturing down the dripping/dipping road to see where it takes me.
But if it doesn't work then I am thinking about trying the straw modification.

I do know that a device that uses an 801 atomizer tend to produce a "cooler" vapor. So folks don't alway like the "hotter" vapor produce by the 510 and 901 devices.

But no matter which device you use, it is definitely a different draw than a regular cig....................

And keep in mind, since you won't be expelling second hand smoke, it should be OK to do around the house..............

Ok.....and another question for my mother-in-law. She's 79 yrs old, a smoker all her life. I've talked to her about the e-cig and showed it to her today. She seems receptive to it and as I see her almost every day I don't mind filling the carts and stuff for her. She has COPD and she's worried that the moisture from the vapor in her lungs will make her more suseptable to bronchitis or pneumonia. Has anyone had this problem or know if this is the case with inhaling vapor?

in my opinion, this is not a product for the elderly, too much maintainence. they just want to smoke, not be "messing around" expecting to make it work exactly like a cigarette....:) , in my opinion, this product is for quitters.....after a year of this, and not being able to smoke cigarettes now (they taste like trash now), I hope to walk away. I don't want to get hooked on a pv...good luck gal! :)

I second everything vicks vape oh yeah said with it just takes time(for throat, for flavor for quitting,,,everything)

As far as your mother in law, I believe PG is an air santizer that will make her less likely to get those things. There is a thread/study here somewhere about it. (I'll look)

I would also recommend maybe getting her disposable e-cigs.

Yeah, I know that it's kinda a hassle. She's a tough old bird though and she's game to try. I don't mind filling the carts for her, cleaning the stuff, etc... I should check into the disposable ones though. She cannot smoke in her apartment, so she goes outside to smoke. During the colder months (we're in Washington) it would be nice if she could get her nic-fix in the apartment.;)
