Hi All. Day 28...
I had such High Hopes for the Aspire nautilus too. In my previous post, I raved about the nautilus and how the flavor was so intense, almost like I was tasting the juice....I WAS tasting the juice. 15 minutes or so, this thing was great. I found It's kind of like that Diva movie or music star. They're great when they work....but the maintenance involved...... 15 minutes or so wonderful. Then It spits. It floods and you wind up with a mouth full of juice. The vapor was ok, but My Mini Pro tank was better. I figured, "the wick wasn't saturated is all....Nope It was. as was the tube in the center as was the drip tip. Take it all apart wash it out, re assemble caaarrreeeefullly. Same deal. 15 minutes and I'm drinking juice. OK....maybe it's a bad seal on the coil...It happens. Bad coils can come out of any batch, right? Take it apart, clean it out, dry it off, change the coil, refill, reassemble....I5 minutes later, drinking juice again. No refunds from the vendor and Aspire is a little hard to get through to....Like a mars mission is a little hard to get hold of. SOOOOOO. Play with the air holes. Nope. Fiddle with power and voltage....Now I'm drinking half burned juice. SOOOOOO> Take the nautilus apart empty the juice that hasnt gotten everywhere in my fiddling into the mini protank, Bid my 20 bucks a sad farewell (Glad I didn't pay full price for this Yes, authentic <insert expletive here> with the scratch sticker and all), Skip the Nautilus across a paved parking lot into a storm drain. and buy a full sized protank 2. vaping happy now.

Vaping happy now.

Mine is squeaky shiny clean, assembled with no coil, sitting on my atty rack in its atty hole. It does very well there. I pick it up from time to time and wonder, what could have been:tumble::tumble:

I'm loving the Pro Tank 2. I liked the Mini Pro Tank 2, but I'm having a great time with the full one. I also like that the coils are the same and the wicks can be replaced with cotton with some doing. The People I talked to at a nearby vape shop were surprised at my Nautilus misadventure. They agreed that I must have gotten one with a serious manufacturing flaw in it. the owner vapes with a Nautilus and loves it. No juice leaks except when she leaves it upright for a long time. Mine filled the chimney with juice even faster if I tipped it.

So, this was one of my first few tanks and honestly, one of 10 nautilus tanks i have. I bought one, loved it so much i order 3 more on a sale i found. Then found an even better sale, and so on. Well initially they all worked pretty good...first one really great honestly. Then all of a sudden they all started crapping on me. Spitting, stock coils not lasting even a whole tank and so on. Hated the spitting the most. After several ways i found of people rebuilding them, i now have one i think is working pretty well. Involved drilling one set of the original air holes with 3/32 bit. Popping out the center piece and taking all the aspire crap out, realigning the slot with the newly larger drilled holes, and using 28 gauge...or whatever you choose i imagine wrapped on said 3/32 bit. Tried cotton initially and it worked ok. Then found a thread here on cellulocotton, think thats the right name. Using it now and it has been working like a champ. I still get a little leak into the bottom by the end of the tank. I simply take out coil, inspect...works for two to three tanks....and wash out bottom and the tank itself to get it nice and clean again. Re-assemble and go at it again. I am almost happy enough to say i will probably keep them all as i was about to sell them all lol.

After using the new coils that Aspire has released I've had some small issues but nothing major:

* This tank WILL spit juice if you draw too hard on it like crxess has said or if you have the tank upside down. Use the biggest or second to biggest air hole to avoid this. Sometimes after chain vaping a little juice will get on my drip tip but its very small and doesn't get in my mouth. This is rare.

* Juice will build up underneath the coil head. I still have yet to find a reason for this. The seal looks fine and everything so I'm stumped on this one. There isn't much so I just make sure to clean it out with a q-tip before i top off my tank or refill. Make sure to really get down in there because some of it gets trapped. I would imagine that this would eventually lead to flooding without cleaning.

* Sometimes taking apart the base from the tank itself can be a real pain. I realized I may have been tightening it too much so now I'm careful not to overtighten.

* DO NOT use juices that contain a lot of sweetener unless you have a fat wallet. It will gunk up the coils like no other and you will be forced to buy a brand new one because of how they're designed. These coils are very picky. You could rebuild them but that would defeat the purpose of this tank, IMO.

I hated my Nautilus at first until I figured these things out and now it's just fine. Only thing I still hate are the coils because for the price they should be perfect. I still wouldn't recommend this tank however. It was a cool concept but was implemented terribly. You would be better off getting a tank for around $10 and save yourself some money if you wanted to go this route. Just my 2 cents.

Air leak possibly
Must be properly sealed or it will flood

Also Smaller holes draw more liquid, larger holes more air/vapor

Biggest fail is not tightening properly
Second is drawing to hard

When figured out these tanks work very well for a clearomizer.

Couldn't agree more as long as the coil you are using in it works correctly.

I'm like Double Helix and have moved on to RBA's/RDA's. So, so happy that I did.

I vape 100% PG juice most of the time. On my Nautilus I kept the air flow setting on the largest hole and didn't have any problems with spitting. I draw long and slow, about 4 seconds at a time.

My Problem with the Nautilus was poor QC on the heads. When I first bought it I could easily get a week out of a coil head. Then, every head pack of 5 that I bought lasted a day and was toast. I've had the same problem with Kanger heads. I've vaped Protanks forever and now a 5 pack lasts me about 2 or 3 days. I went through several 5 packs of coils recently on the Aerotank Mega. That's $15 a 5 pack for the Mega dual coils.

For that reason, I finally ordered an EHPro Kayfun 3.1 to play with. A coil wound on it will last a couple of weeks or longer with an occasional dry burn followed by a cotton wick replacement. For the time being (and maybe for good) it's become my daily vape.

Sorry to hear that the Nautilus isn't working for you. I've had the best luck with smaller bottom coil clearos like the Mini Protanks or the Aspire ET-S. Even the iClear 16b. I think the smaller the clearo is, the less gurgling for some reason. I didn't stick with clearos for long though. Within a month I moved on to cartotanks from IBTanked. I think they're much better then clearos, and they're priced around the same as the Nautilus. Basically, they use the cartomizers that you find on cigalikes as coils. You prime the cartomizer with juice first, until it can't hold anymore. I used the cartos they sell right at IBTanked, with holes laser cut in them near the bottom. Once it's filled with juice, you insert it halfway into the cartotank with the long filling tool they sell. It's a long, skinny, drip tip that will allow space in the opening on top of the tank so you can fill it with juice. Just fill it up 80%, then insert the carto the rest of the way in. You can use the filling tool as a drip tip, or replace it with another one. The taste is great, and once it's all set up I found that there were less issues to troubleshoot. Less leaking, no gurgling and the carto dies a long, slow, death so that I was never stuck in a situation where it needed to be changed all of a sudden while I was somewhere that I couldn't change it. Depending on the juice, I've had many cartos last me through a whole 30ml without needing to be changed. Once dead, I just tossed them in the trash. They're cheaper then Nautilus coils as well.

did you ever try rebuilding and rewicking the nautilus coils to try and fix the gurgle/leak? basically take rip trippers rebuild, and add the pegasus sandwich wicking?

my aerotank so far has been suspiciously leak/gurgle-free, but i've rebuilt two coilheads in preparation, just in case.

then again, the airflow on the aerotank is hardly in the same league. even after drilling out all three holes i'm still not super happy with the wide open draw. ah well

Apologies in advance for what I'm about to say.

After months of screwing around with bottom coil tanks--troubleshooting issues, watching youtube videos, dry burning, replacing flavor wicks, buying air flow controllers, finally learning to rebuild coils--it finally dawned on me, given all my time and effort, that I might as well just get a kayfun.

And then I bought a kayfun, some wire and cotton. I don't think it's an exageration to say that my bottom coil tanks required 20X more fussing about than my kayfun (which took me about 3 builds to perfect, and I'm an idiot when it comes to working with my hands.)

Again I apologize, but I'm posting this here because I wish someone would have told me something similar about a year and several hundred dollars ago. :2c:

I agree, v1k1ng. I keep hoping they will come out with something new that actually works without all the fuss. After using the russian 91% for several months now with no problems, it's kind of hard to go back to carto tanks. But there are times when I just don't have time to mess with rebuilding a coil or I want to have a back up so I thought the nautilus was worth a shot. It sounds like a lot of you actually had better luck than I did. I'm getting so much gurgling, I might as well just use a straw and sip ejuice straight from the bottle.

Aspire were rather disappointing for me. Considering the amount of duds received per package (not DOA, just bad & short life), they are rather expensive. Not to mention coming from either Kanger or Innokin, to have to invest in and buy a new tank/clearo, I don't think they are worth it. If I purhcased a Nautilus instead of the Davide adapter to use on my protank 2, Id be rather .......
