Although I don't know how feasible this will be for you, what you could try is finding someone who is smoking and get close enough to smell what they are exhaling and if the smell doesn't put you off, have one.

Or, just have one.

As time goes by and you get your kit, whatever you may have at the time, dialed in the frustration of having to try to quit smoking with an unreliable system which may be a poor quality kit or less than optimum usage or some combination thereof, will reduce.

Concentrate on trying to "dial in" using whatever you are using and if you can do that, your frustration level will drop and you feeling a need to have a 'grette will likely drop too.

oh ok, will keep that in mind. Meanwhile i feel quite ill now and think ill go to bed. THANKS to you and everyone for their help x Kate

You're going to make it Kate, because you REALLY want to do this. It's why you started down this path. It gets easier EVERY day. It isn't the end of the world to cheat and have a smoke, but it's 5 days longer since your "haven't had one since" date. Try your best to make it. But most importantly, don't quit quitting.

day 5 and although i upped nic strength to 25mg, im am craving cigarettes terribly today, the evod vv is O MUCH better than the nautilis mini and istick 30, i keep reaching my hand out and looking for my cig pack even though im vaping constantly, all i have is aching throat and constant indigestion ,(nevermind the farts). this is not what i expected. FED UP:nah:

I am not sure upping your nic to 25mg is the best idea, since with aching throat and constant indigestion, you are even more uncomfortable.

When I started vaping, I was actually over nic-ing myself and was pretty unwell during the first 2 weeks til somebody helped me and I lowered it.

Part of your cig craving, after all, is going to be behavioral/pschological.......so since upping the nic to 25mg has not HELPED the cravings, you are essentially, just kinda making yourself sick.

If I were you I would dual use for a while.......until you start liking vaping more than smoking. And also perhaps try some WTA, as I really don't think it's just a nictotine strength issue for you the way you describe it.

I only got indigestion when my nic was too high.

I know that feeling. After 5 days the cig will probably taste like cow patties. (trying to be nice) Look at it this way. You have 5 days of progress. If you do break down and have a smoke don't shoot yourself over it. The "addiction" is horrible but you can beat it. Count the ones you don't have and try to make each day better than the one before.

If it were me I'd get up and move every time it hit me. (But then I can walk to the kitchen and forget why I went there) For me the routine change, the reach habit were worse than the cravings.

Good luck, you're not alone, we've all been there.
^^ This! I had a cig after vaping for three days and it tasted awful! Hang in there, you'll naturally wean yourself off them once you pass the two week mark

Everyone is right 30w is too high for the tank. Fwiw if tanks flood the vape really sucks while its gurgling. I sarted on 24mg juice on stock silica wicks and 1.8ohm coils....rebuilt those disposable heads to 1.3ohms with twisted wire and cotton wicks and learned what nic sick was real quick.

Use vape to subsidise smoke if you need to, I did.

Rooting for you kate! If you need to smoke in order to allow you to hang in there then that's what you gotta do. There is no law written in stone stating you have to go cold turkey, a slow transition dual using is what works best for some folks.

That's what I did. Took about 3-4 wks before I just felt like "why am I bothering with this crap?" everytime I lit one, took 2-3 drags, and put it out in pure disgust, then go back indoors and have to wash my hands to get the stink off, and vape like a maniac to get that nasty taste out of my mouth. But 5 days into vaping? I was still smoking 8-10 a day at that point -- and pretty much still enjoying them, though less and less with every day that passed.

Pressure is counterproductive. Before you can be really happy with it, it needs to be something you choose as your preference, because you like it better. Forcing yourself to vape when you really want to smoke, especially when the vape is as icky as you describe, is just a really good way to turn yourself off vaping, so you go back to smoking and say 'well that didn't work.'

Was 1-2 packs a day for 20 years. Started with 18 mg nic on a ego CC. Cut down a little. Switched to aspire nautilus on a provari, got me down a little more. Went to a 40w mod and subtank mini and 4mg nic, had 4 or 5 a day for a month, then 1 a day(the one with coffee) in the morning for a month. Month ago decided not to go outside for that one, haven't had once since.

I subsidized with smokes for 6 months or so until I just didn't want one anymore.

yes, i really want to stop smoking, think i should slow down and no expect so much too soon.thanks

First, your watts setting is WAY too high. Aim for around 4.2 volts. and 5 volts being the MAX. Any higher, and the coil can get too hot, and gunk up/clog the wick (or burn it if it's cotton).

As far as wanting a cigarette.. That's normal. What I tell everyone, is when you're addicted to cigarettes, you're addicted to inhaling 2000 chemicals. Not only is nicotine in a cigarette, but there's also ammonia, which was introduced to keep the nicotine in your bloodstream longer. Not to mention other chemicals that are designed to open up your dopamine receptors to amplify the nicotine effect. In short, you are getting the nicotine from an ecig, but your body will break it down faster, and you're not getting the effect to the brain as much. So, wanting to chain vape is natural.

I went from a pack/day to 3 per day instantly, then weened off slowly. Within 1 - 1 1/2 months, I was down to 1 cigarette per day, and would see how long I could go without a cigarette. Last one I had, I was purely vaping for 3 months and saw a pack of cigarettes. I was curious as to how it would taste.. lit it up.. took one drag, then put it out.. they taste horrible.

If you do break down, it's not a failure. if you can keep going, definitely keep going. But I have seen several people go back to smoking because the urge was just so great, then thought ecigs were a failure. It's not that they failed, but they were just beginning to work. Each day you go without a cigarette is a day your lungs are healing, is a day you're not inhaling ammonia, it's a day you've won.

Nautilus:
Keep the power up enough to maintain a warm tasty vape
Keep the air open slightly more than you think it should be and then a little more.
Lighten your draw!

Tanks works by Vacuum feed
You are the Vacuum
To much Draw is like boosting the Vacuum effeciency and More liquid is drawn than vaporized(Gurgling, Flooding)
Air flow increase(the adjustment) helps in reducing Vacuum by allowing more natural air flow.

When not in use store upside down.

All bottom wick tanks work in this manor.

Good luck!

Chain vaping 25mg nic is what's making you feel ill most likely
are you using the 1.8Ω BVC coil in the Nautilus? How many watts/volts are you running it at?

Nooooo.... not with her set up it should not make her sick. I started on 36 mg and barely made it off the cigs. We do not absorb nicotine from vapor the same as we do from a burning cig. Everyone is different and have different tolerances to nicotine.

Please do not be afraid to go even a bit higher if that is what it takes to get you off the cigs. You can work on lowering your nicotine later ( if you so choose) once you have a good handle on quitting the cigs.

Please hang in there. I too almost gave up and had it not been for the members of this forum, there is no doubt in my mind that I would not have made the transition. But, I really WANTED to stop smoking and here I am 5 years later. Still smoke free ;)

No, that's quitting smoking before vaping. I immediately liked vaping more than smoking, in terms of the pleasure of doing it. But the more relaxative aspects of the physical effect wasn't there. I couldn't even handle vaping all day either because of the effects on my smoke-ravaged throat -- by the evening it was a choice of cigs or nothing (that would have sped things up). Even while still vaping pure nic, I consider myself to have quit a chemical addiction because without the "cocktail" or chemicals in real tobacco (NOT additives, mostly at least) it's not near as good.

If you enjoy vaping more than smoking, except sometimes the lack of nicotine-related satisfaction, smoking one shouldn't lead you permanently astray. I smoked many of them and often my progress was too slow to detect, but I never went backwards. BTW, while eventually a cig may taste afterwords like you ate a lit match, if that first drag doesn't taste good your cigs are terrible or you ain't wired up right.

HEY! Hope it's going better this morning! My lessons in 3 months:

    1) I've used both of your set ups. I use my mini and istick pretty much all of the time now, but if you are more comfortable with the evod for now, use it! You're still getting used to coils and vv and vw and it's a lot to take in on top of the stresses of quitting. Do whatever makes you comfortable. Maybe revisit your mini in a week. Or just toy with it when you're bored. Even after vaping for two months on an evod and ego, the learning curve for the mini was short and steep. It's a vacuum system, it's a little bit more difficult than the evod. It can be your new BFF once you get a hang of it, but if the evod is more satisfying just use that. Do what works for you. (also, if you grab a 510 adapter, the evod tank fits on an istick. which might help you get a feel for the vw on the istick without dealing with the mini's temperamental side)

    2) If you slip up and have a cigarette, don't worry about it! A TON of people on this forum dual used. Hell, it took me two months to stop turning to cigarettes when my stress levels peaked. Nothing like blowing your car's transmission a month after you quit smoking. I chain smoked a whole pack in one day. It happens. When it does, count it as a stumble, NOT a fall. Go back to vaping. For every smoke you have, how many others have you skipped? Count those, not the ones you have.

    3) Drink water. As much as you can. And then some more. You're going to be dehydrated. Especially chain vaping.

    4) Remember, nicotine in a cigarette hits your brain FAST. Nicotine from a vape can take up to an HOUR to have the same effects.

It's not going to be an easy journey, but you've taken the first steps. And that is something to be proud of!

    Missouri...or the state of Misery.
I stumbled and I fell a few time
that makes a lot of sense really, the first few days i aw massive reduction in cig moke and just chose the vaper instead because the cigs tasted so nasty compared to them, now ive no comparison and even though the nautilis mini is not performing as i expected, it could be the whole cig addiction too. hope this goes soon. :(

The Nautilus didn't work for me either...everything I've tried in it tasted ultra light....Switching to a different tank really helped me out.

I also stumbled several times when I first started out--and I was at 24mg and chain vaped too. Took about 6 months before I could cut it down to 12mg which is where I'm still at. I don't have the mass cravings that I used to, but every now and then something will still set it off....I just hang tight and get up and move around when it does. Drink lots of water...that was the hardest thing for me because I hate water lol!

Just hang in there...the first 2 weeks to a month is the hardest!
