...second drag, the nastiness really hit and I all but hurled, flinging the cig away.

I wish I had that problem, but I don't. For me, I have to make a conscious decision to vape instead of smoking. There are times when making the right decision seems more difficult than at other times.

The thing that helped me quit- I skipped those ecig pens and went straight to dripper mods. The pens never helped me. Tried and failed, so I went to a dripper mod with an 18650 battery. Never could get a good satisfying draw/drag so I felt like I had to continuously vape. The high nicotine content and continuously having to 'hit' it drained the battery and was harsh on my throat. The dripper mod, along with an rda and a good clearomizer really helped. 6mg nicotine juices allow you to take quite a few large satisfying draws without tearing up my throat and really experiencing some great flavors.

day 5 and although i upped nic strength to 25mg, im am craving cigarettes terribly today, the evod vv is O MUCH better than the nautilis mini and iStick 30, i keep reaching my hand out and looking for my cig pack even though im vaping constantly, all i have is aching throat and constant indigestion ,(nevermind the farts). this is not what i expected. FED UP:nah:

I struggled to put the the cigs at first one thing I underestimated was changing to vaping still requires some will power! I would try and lower the nicotine so its not closing your throat in and try vaping more frequently, and I was smoking tobacco flavours at first.. The worse it tasted the better

Everybody reacts different, different emotions, different anxiety levels. Some people go to zero cigs the day they start vaping with no effort. Lucky for them. I went from 25 to 5 cigs a day from day one with no effort then went on like that for six weeks while I got used to vaping. I called that 80% control because my cigs were reduced by that percent. When I started zero cigs it seemed like just 20% of the effort that cold turkey would have been and I had the comfort of knowing a relapse would only be to 5 cigs, not 25.

One of my brothers is still a dual user after 7 months. I smoked one of his cigs a couple weeks ago to prove to him I'm no longer vulnerable (it tasted flat, the buzz wasn't very good, I got a mild headache and have no interest in another experience like that). At work I tease the smokers by saying it was selfish of me to quit smoking. I should smoke again but only their cigarettes because every one I smoke is one they don't so I'm doing them a favor at great personal sacrifice.) Ater too many decades of smoking I'm free, literally immunized. It's a nice place to be.

I tried resorting to terrible flavors thinking it would help in my case. For me I had to vape delicious flavors. It made cigarettes nastier tasting for me and compelled me to vape sweet vanilla caramel cream flavors.

I understand how you feel. My first three weeks were nightmarish constant headaches, sweaty palms, i craved for a smoke but since my taste buds were starting to recover i couldnt even smoke a whole cig without wanting to throw up. After three weeks of vaping slowly my cravings went away and my headaches subsided (the farts remained - too much vg i suppose -) so hang on and you will start feeling better

Once I found a vape set-up that I liked I never picked up another cigarette. I was never fond of the nautilus tanks. I have helped friends and family members start vaping to quit smoking over the years. Currently I am recommending the Kanger Subtank Nano to new vapors. The coils last a decent amount of time (I have gotten 3 weeks on 1 coil) They will work with your Istick and they come with the recommended wattage for the coil etched on to the coil. I prefer the .5 ohm coil at between 15 and 20 watts. Decent throat hit and lots of flavor and clouds. You will want to cut your nicotine in half with the .5 ohm coil though as it's like getting a burst of nicotine and more than 12 will be too strong. You can also get the 1.2 and the 1.5 ohm coils and then maybe try 18 mg nicotine. Still decent vapes but start the wattage on the low side.

Do you know of any sources of information about when these Nautilus coils start to produce formaldehyde and other combustion products?

Used properly I dont think any vape device will produce the F stuff. I have not heard or read of the Nautilus coils producing the F stuff ever.

:offtopic:
I'm not aware that it does. If any harmful agents are produced by vaping (something that has never been proven) it would still be much less harmful than anything in cigarettes.:offtopic:

Now back to our originally scheduled program:matrix:

Like everyone else has said if you want one just have one, don't beat yourself up over it. If your thinking you want one all the time it's a vicious circle of wanting it more, just like kids at christmas that obsess over some new toy for weeks beforehand and when they get it it's played with for 2 minutes and discarded in the corner.

From what I've seen of the study:

When the vaping element (coil) exceeds 600 degrees Celsius, it creates different molecules.

Most vaping is done between 200-260 degrees Celsius, with dry hits usually coming in around 280 degrees Celsius.

Thus, unless you were hitting that mini at over 600 degrees, burning the HELL out of your coils, and suffering from the worst tasting thing in the universe, you're no where near turning juice into formaldehyde or other combustion products.

The problem with the original study is that it in no way mimics the way vapers actually vape.

Spreading fear and confusion with misleading formaldehyde studies « The counterfactual

Is there a reason you're attempting to scare a newbie with half-based facts? Or are you generally concerned? If you're concerned. Do some digging. There's tons of info available in this forum.

I'm pretty sure this forum is 80% of the reason I managed to quit. Between just being able to vent somewhere to people who know the struggle and just reading all the random stuff that ends up here to distract myself, I'm not sure I'd have made it without ECF. It's like. . . a giant support group, a social group, and your own personal troubleshooting-vape-mechanic team all rolled into one. :D

So, after four months of vaping, and two months completely free of analogs, I stumbled yesterday and tried to have one with my glass of wine. In my wine-buzzed head, I NEEEEEEDED that thing. Until I had it, lit it, and realized how horrible it tasted. :D Back to my vape.

Gonna need to find something that pairs well with a dry red. ;) I need a vape sommelier for these things.
