I didn't intend to quit. It wasn't my plan. The girlfriend quit 2 years ago after a cancer scare, but over the last month or so her job was stressing her out so much that she'd sneak into my pack and smoke a couple of cigarettes. She didn't intend to start again, but after so much stress she finally broke down and bought a pack of her own. That was enough for me. I was fine if she wanted to smoke, but she didn't want to. So long as I had analogs at home, she wasn't able to kick it again. I ordered a KR8, cartos, as passthrough, and some juice, and on the morning of 1/11/11 I had my last analog.

My smoker friends were skeptical, but vaping has kept the cravings away and the girlfriend appropriated the auto KR8 from my starter pack (I prefer the manuals for better vapor control). It's been less than a week, but this feels like it could finally be the solution to kick my 16 year analog habit.

Thanks! I stumbled on ECF through internet searches after I got my kr8, and the info here has been really helpful. I wish I had found this site first, but I think I made a good choice for a starter and already have plans for different juices I want to try, ordered a PigCig, and more. This is so much more fun than smoking analogs :)

And remember if you get frustrated it's not e cigs in general, maybe you should try an ego with an LR atty. There are many options that have helped even the most hardcore smokers quit (me included) sometimes it just takes the right hardware. Just remember how cigs smelled before you smoked them...downright nasty. Unhealthy. I remember while I smoked em they were calming, now they are just gross, and I'm proud to be at that point. Keep trying!

Thanks for the encouragement! I'm really happy with the vapor and TH my kr8 passthrough provides, and 90% of my vaping is done on that (a hazard of my chosen career -- I'm in front of a computer 16+ hours a day). I started with 12mg cartos, but have bumped up to 24mg and definitely notice less irritation. After the first day, the girlfriend had a dream that I was upset with her and told her I was leaving for Africa without her :). Things have gotten much better since then, and I haven't had an analog craving since Thursday. I went out Friday night with a bunch of my smoker friends, and the analog smoke that I used to enjoy just smelled acrid and disgusting. They made fun of my PV, of course, but more than one was definitely intrigued and we spent much of the night talking about PVs. I don't know if they'll convert (they're social smokers, whereas I was a 1-1.5 PAD smoker), but I'm not regretting it.

I do think it definitely helped that I "snuck up" on quitting. I didn't tell myself I was quitting, I just didn't go buy another carton. I didn't have a "last cigarette" ceremony or anything, because the girlfriend smoked my last one before I could get home from work and smoke it :). My PV definitely showed up at the perfect time, because I was on the last 2 cigarettes of the last pack of the last carton. I smoked the 2nd to last in the morning, and that turned out to be my last.

toddos if you are like the rest of us that box will need to get bigger as this hobby gets a hold of you. Wait till the DIY bug latches on!!!

Oh, I fully anticipate filling that up. I have several orders currently processing or shipping. I figure if I can replace analogs with an interesting hobby like PV modding, I've already won :)
