Hi,

So, day two is going much better. I've figured out how to drag properly and get a nice amount of vapor. It really is different than dragging a cigarette which I read, but it's difficult to change immediately after smoking for 20 years! Anyway, I bought a kit with two batteries and atomizers. One of them tastes nice and is smooth and easy to get vapor from. The other tastes good for a few drags and then gets a weird taste to it... maybe burnt or something not pleasant. I'll put in a bit more liquid and it's good for another drag or two and then the same thing. The good one I haven't refilled at all yet. What could the culprit be? Is it the juice? I'm using strawberry Liberty liquid in the bad one. The good one is mint PV liquid. Or is it the atomizer? Or something else I'm missing? Any troubleshooting tips for me? Thanks!

Ah - I forgot. Don't know if this has anything to do with it but the good one is being used with an automatic battery and the bad one is manual.

Hi pchela! You didn't mention what brand of PV you got. It can be difficult to determine exactly what the problem is exactly since it could be any one of the three things you mentioned.

Atty: Did you switch the attys to each battery? Some attys are just better or burn hotter than others.

Battery: Most auto batteries have a cut off switch that doesn't allow too long of a drag. That could be the reason the manual tastes burnt quicker. Do think you're taking longer drags on the manual?

juice: It could also be the difference in the quality of the juices. Try blowing out each atty and switching the flavors to see if that's it. You can also try blowing them out simply as a start over point. Maybe you left some primer in the one that tastes burnt

I had this problem with one of my attys recently. the culprit was the wick...it wasn't reaching the coil so very little juice was reaching the coil. I solved the problem by removing the bridge to drip right onto the coil. you can find info about it here. It may seem a little complicated to you right now, but when your ready to fix it it's easy. Until then I'd buy some more attys and put that one up for now.

Are you using the 510 with cartomizers aka cartos (atty and cartridge all in one piece, attaches right to the battery) or with carts (for using it as a 3 piece with battery + separate atty + cart)?

If a cart tastes burny then it is too dry (above or below the stuffing) or not wicking well (stuffy is boggy or packed too tight).

If a carto tastes burny it is either too dry or it burned the filling a bit or it's gunked up. You could try washing it out - there are a number of methods depending on what cartos you bought - try looking for a Youtube. note - if it was a blank and tasted burny from the beginning, maybe it had primer fluid - I know some of those CE2 R4's came with primer fluid in them even though they said they didn't.

If an atty tastes burny, then
. If it's new and tasted burny from the first time you used it, you may be tasting primer liquid. You could try burning off primer before using a new atty (look for instructions and don't glow it red - you can burn it out) or you can swish/soak it in alcohol (I do that overnight) and then let it airdry a couple of days (or use a blowdryer or something).
- if it became burny tasting after a number of uses, even if you drip or dip juice directly, then the atty probably needs cleaning same as for atty primer fluid).

hey there. Have you tried direct dripping yet? Its when you just place a few drops of juice on the atomizer itself and you don't use a cart. I discovered it by accident, but apparently its a very popular way to vape. I won't go back to those carts. You get a fantastic throat hit too! msg me if you need some more info... -Josh

I read that you can't direct drip on an automatic? Also, do you still put the cartridge on when you drip or do you draw directly from the atomizer?

I looked at the cartridge and the filler material is pushed down lower than the other. Thanks DC2 and everybody. I'm hoping tomorrow I'll get the problem solved!

Most of the time yah it can be bad....back when I had my Blu the bridge for the atty stuck out there once you too the cart off though, so I used to put a drop on the bridge with the cig on it's side, so it wouldn't drop into the batt, and then put a cart I had pressed the reservoir out of on it to test different flavors.....then I screwed up and dripped straight down onto it.....and killed on of my Blu batts......and that gave me an excuse to order the 510, lol Dripping with an auto can be......well bad if you aren't uber uber careful in my experience. I've only been vaping for about 2 months now though, so I'd listen to the seasoned vets on here over me, because if it wasn't for ECF.....I'd still be a lost noob with the sub-standard Blu >.<

You can drip with an automatic, but you really should be good at it if you do.
Because if you overfill, or even just let it sit too long, juice can get in the battery connection and kill it.

Manually batteries are sealed so they won't get juice in them.
They can't seal the automatics because they need a hole to work.

Also, do you still put the cartridge on when you drip or do you draw directly from the atomizer?
Drawing directly from the atomizer is called tailpiping, and you can do it if you want.
You can also take the filler out of the cartridge and just use the empty cartridge as the mouthpiece.

But most people get a drip tip to avoid taking the empty cartridge off every time they need to drip more juice.

Well, the atty ended up dying completely the day after I posted this so I'm wondering if it was just a bad atty or if I did something wrong and ruined it somehow.

Also, since I've been vaping I've noticed that I haven't felt so hot. I've been very irritable and have had a massive headache for the last two days. I assume that my body is withdrawing from all of the nasty chemicals in cigarettes? I mean, surely there is other nasty addictive crap in there besides the nicotine? The headache is becoming unbearable though... has anybody else experienced this? Headache, lack of appetite, irritability etc?

I am a newbie as well, but I was advised to go with carts at first, rather than atomizers. It has been great using them, being a newbie at this. I was advised to get 3 carts and fill with juice and rotate thru out the day. I have NO problems with vapor or throat hits doing it this way. I did go with the ProVape unit and I am very pleased with it as well. I do not have anything to compare it to at this point, but I believe it does everything that I needed it to, as I am now on my 8 day count up for full quitting of analogs!!
Yea!
