Hey all...

I've had some luck, and some failure with dual coils in my home made carto tanks. Especially with my precious Massive Chocolate Mint. What I've discovered is that for whatever reason, the juice is simply not making it up to the top coil in this configuration, so I always get a burned taste. Today I took a clear DC cart apart to see how high the hole would need to be to reach the top coil on these and decided to give up on DC cartos for this particular juice. After building a shorter tank for a Boge 2.0 LR carto and setting it up, I now have the GOOD taste of my juice back.

I guess what I'm saying is that DC carto tanks are fine and dandy for most juices, but you WILL happen upon some that just won't work right with them, so be open minded about using a shorter tank with a Boge LR carto.

Also, before anyone says it... It's not due to the VG content of the juice, because I have Boba's Bounty and Gorilla Juice working just fine in my other DC Tanks.

If anyone else has some thoughts on this, feel free to chime in!

I got mine working yesterday, and was having the same problem with the duel coils not soaking all the way up. If you take a sharp toot off it it will saturate the filler.

Lay it down, it'll prob saturate completely. Think gravity is part of the prob. ???

maybe, Iv'e only been using it for a day and a half. I haven't got much experience with them, but a sharp draw every now and then totally saturates it. I usually drip fill my cartos from various bottles, and its very hard to pinpoint how many ml a day im using. Its real easy with the tank I know exactly how much I put in and when.

I don't know if this pic is good enough for you to see the holes in this CE2, but I don't cut a slit, I make several tiny holes (the smallest drill in my cheapy set), some low and some high. I do it so there's not a vacuum problem, basicallt the tank becomes part of the carto. Wonder if several tiny holes may distribute your juice better. You don't want too large a hole or you may have leaking probs at the connector. Just a thought ????

several tiny holes

I think one of the problems I was having at first was too big a hole. With the duel coil cartos they don't have a tube in the center like the ce2 so I think it needs a slight vacuum in the tank to keep it from spilling out the battery connector. I ended up making a tiny slit with a cut off wheel on a dremal. Im going to try to make to tiny holes next time tho.

You projects are always fun to see by the way.

Thanks, Ouada. Yah, has something to do with surface tension of the liquid, tiny holes prevent fluid from flowing (or something like that??????) Seems like as long as your holes go into stuffing, not air space, the filler should control the fluid. I will have to try it myself so I can talk semi-intelligently LOL

Many smaller holes - always a good idea for no leaking. I like it.

I think the holes don't really have that much to do with it. My theory is that the vacuum pressure of air vs juice keeps the juice in the tank. You can see what I mean by opening the fill port on a carto tank if it has it. Same principle as holding water inside a straw with your fingertip on top of it. I've pretty much given up on DC cartos in tanks now. IF I try to use a carto tank, I use Boge cartos because I only have to worry about keeping a single coil wet.

However, last night, just for kicks I took a CE2 R5 Clearomizer and fluffed the wick and flipped the silicone plug, then tried it with some Boba's Bounty. HEAVENLY!!! Until the wicks clogged on the way to the cup and I got that burnt ... atty taste. The problem now is that now I have order some atomizer tubes to retrofit the CE2s I have into my tank tubes. That should hopefully give the wicks room to flow freely enough to handle anything I throw at it.

Do either of you have any experience with running thick VG like Boba's in a CE2 tank? How well does it wick?

Well some random thoughts.

The DCs are very particular about hole/slit size (gotta stay smaller), than the Boges. For some reason the clears are a nightmare in tanks.

If you ain't getting any liquid up to the top, you may need a bigger hole/slit. But it's a fine line though.

I've used the DCs successfully, but I don't chain vape and I also lay it down on it's side. Lately I been using the SmokTech 1.7Ω singles, they work quite well and the draw doesn't stiffen up as quickly as the DCs. At the end of the day you could also try adding about 3 drops of water to the top, seems to forestall the eventual gummyness.

That said with filler cartos in tanks, the vape can change depending on how full the tank is.

got any mega-xl-dc carto's? Plenty of room in there and you get to reuse the rubber drip tip.:vapor:
