DCT smoketech tank running warm/hot NOOB

I have an EGo-T that I'm using a DCT Smoketech 3.5ml tank on. It's worked great for a week. Now after about 5 min of vaping the tank and carto get very warm/hot. I tried topping off the carto with a few drops of e juice. I only used 3 drops though, didn't want to flood it. Is this just a matter of the carto running near the end of its life or do I need to put more drops in it or what? Need advice. Still learning about cartos. Any help would be appreciated.

the dct's get pretty hot in general. If there is juice in the tank and it tastes ok you're good. Still a good idea to let it cool off
