the secret is to buy spares before u need them.. the first order should include.. one kit two spare atomizers and two spare batteries.. or simply buy two kits..

DOA parts are not entirely uncommon.. nether are quick failure parts.. they cant tests for this.. this only applies if u buy the cheaper generics.. buy an inexpensive brand name and the send back and wait option is the only way..

sorry to sounds so negative.. the product is worth persevering with.. its just has its problems..

Realistically, there are a lot of ways the atomizer designs could be improved, but the manufacturing costs would skyrocket. For now, people are buying the product, so why change it?

As it is, there's a few cents worth of materials there, and something that can be 95% produced on a few dies on a hydraulic press, with the last 5% being up to some poor schmuck in the factory who has no idea what's really going on, only that if he gets 500 finished in an hour, he doesn't loose his job. e-smokers will pay the $40 some companies charge for atomizers, just to be able to continue doing something that they see as healthy, and overall, cheaper than cigarettes.

Honestly the more I learn about these things, the more I see a potential market for super high end devices. Imagine a device that would run for days on one battery, (well, maybe not for trog, just a day and a half for him) use bulk juice (no filament cartridge) and never burn out the atomizer, since it would be designed to run dry anyways to clean itself of residue. Now imagine it cost $3,000.

The technology is out there, but the manufacturing prices would be ridiculous (think Swiss watch precision here) and the materials wouldn't be cheap either. it could be done, but until e-smoking hits a larger demographic, everyone will have to muddle through with products that do basically what they were designed to, (that is, when you can get an entire set that all works properly,) though not especially well.

Once there's more mainstream acceptance, we'll see the quality of the products (and product testing) increase immensely I'd imagine.

Tony I liked everything you said apart from the $3000. lol

Haha, yeah, me too :)

Unfortunately, right now, the only way I could even see adapting the technology would still create a package about the size of a 58 ring guage x 5.5 inch cigar, so it would be much bigger than most people would want (it'd be fine by me, but that's me)

A few $$$ worth of prototyping and R&D and it could probably be shrunk down, but certain compromises would have to be made for miniaturization further. Some things cannot be shrunk beyond a certain point and still function (insert phallic joke if you must) But I really believe that you could build a much better e-cigarette, it'd just be expensive...

Well, I think a long lasting atomizer could be like a Rolex. Sure a $10 watch does the job, but people still want the luxury of the $6000+ Rolex. The current design could used for low-to-medium grade e-cigs, with the expensive one having an option to buy an "eternal" atomizer.
It may be more expensive, but if you really like e-smoking, instead of paying $20 every two weeks, would it be better to pay $300 once a year...?

Yes buy they forgot to improve the atomizer. he he he

Personally buying new atomisers doesn't bother me at all. Its a wearing part. Now a battery that only lasts a couple of weeks I think is extremely poor. Get a battery that lasts a couple of months and I would be happy enough to chuck in a new atomiser every two weeks or so.

All my mates who tried my e-cig were really impressed until they found out how often they would have to change them, then they lost interest. Personally I want to stick with it, after all it is a new product and all new products have teething problems.

It would be more like there's the ten dollar wal-mart watch, and my $50 (insert department store here) watch.

Until we get gold plate diamond studded manual buttons, there will be no rolex.

Actually, the $10/ rolex comparison is more accurate, look a the price of a stainless steel rolex sometime...

The Solid gold, diamond studded versions would no doubt follow, but I'm talking about something that right now would require more than $1000 worth of materials and components on a one-off basis (obviously cheaper in production quantities)

But like I said, this would be the ultra-high end market.

And it wouldn't be buying one once a year, it'd be more like buying one, and having the $100 service once a year to tune up everything, install the new firmware, and replace any worn parts.

For the thing to function properly it'd have a lot more processing power than my first 3 or 4 computers did (combined) and fully regulated circuitry. You'd know it was time to charge the battery when it stopped producing vapor at all, and up 'till that moment, it's vapor production would have been the same from the first puff. (the draw would also stay constant) So, you'd unscrew the end, drop in a freshly charged battery, and start to puff away, with exactly the same amount of vapor and ease of draw as you had on the last puff before the last battery went out.

Want to know how much is left in you're battery? Press the little button on the end and a series of 10 led's lights up along the top to tell you.

Want a lighter puff to smoke more discreetly? Take a lighter draw, and the processor delivers the perfect amount of juice to the atomizer according to the volume and velocity of the airflow.

Noticing diminished vapor? instead of sucking through the mouthpiece, blow, and the reversed airflow triggers the cleaning function which heats the vaporizer to 10X it's normal temp and burns off any residue, wait 5 seconds, and you're ready to puff again, just like new.

All of these things are quite possible and practical using modifications of technology already available today to different sectors of industry.

I have no desire to go into the e-smoking business, frankly I don't have the time for such ventures, but I think that someone else will figure all this stuff out and start building products that fit the highest end of the market, then some of that tech will trickle down to the less expensive models.

take it from a real and fake rollex owner...real better quality band and look...but doesn't keep time worth doo doo always having to adjust it. So...name aint everything!

Haha, so true, I know a rolex dealer, and he wears a rolex (of course) but he admits it doesnt keep time as well as a timex, it just does it with more style...
