outofjuice,
This is a common problem amongst modders. It is actually just an expected symptom of 2nd stage "Modumust Fever".
As you know "Modumust Fever". is a relatively new affliction. It is poorly understood at this point. However we have identified several stages of this most contagious condition. We have also found that some people are more prone to "Modumust Fever" than others.
Stage 1: dissatisfied with small PVs, this leads to wanting to
mod everything you see. (caution: WallMarts and hardware stores may agitate your condition) The advancing from late stage 1 to early stage 2 always involves variable Voltage.
Stage 2: You have evolved past wanting to modify things and in this stage you want to become a builder and make your own PV from scratch. There is more of a need to accumulate the tools and skills needed than actually building mods. You may find yourself studying Metal working, electronics, material properties and CAD drawing. In this stage you may think that you have your symptom management under control because your not modding as much as you were in stage 1 but it is only a misunderstanding of the condition.
Stage 3: This is where the condition has reached advanced stages. At this point you will begin to want to go into the business of manufacturing and selling PVs. This can lead to over extending your finances.
Stage 4:If you survived stage 3 then this stage is the most dangerous of all stages that we have seen so far. By now you have sold enough PVs to think that you are actually winning this battle with your "Modumust Fever". This can lead to delusions of grandeur. In the most advanced case that we have studied to date the patent went so far as to try to get patents on not only his PVs but on every mod ever made. (very sad). In this stage you find your self studying more in the areas of business law than mechanics.
Stage 5: this stage is still being studied, we don't think that anyone has advanced that far yet. This may or may not be the final stage. We just don't know at this point. At this point We need gov. funding to study the condition. We suspect that it is in this stage where the afflicted could have very serious problems that could if not very careful even lead to bankruptcy, homelessness, or even suicide. So far there have been no documented cases of anyone in this stage, however there does appear to be one who is approaching this stage.
The at risk group seems to be made up of mostly of those people with high mechanical aptitudes. This affliction is no respecter of age, gender, race or IQ. It should however not be confused with Mod Horder's Syndrome, Those with MHS can show signs of "Modumust Fever" but due to their inability to build anything they usually resort to begging for a modder to build them a Genisis. Somehow they think that owning one will cure their MHS.
