Hmm, looks like some kind of pyrotechnic device, or maybe just a really-really powerful atomizer.

Like the avi there Stosh, hehe, vacuum tubes. The first circuit I ever built actually used vacuum tubes, giving away my age, but in my defense, it was an old style audio amplifier at a time when people still thought vacuum tubes delivered better audio quality than transistors. The reality is, that's like saying VCR tape delivers better video quality than digital video disk.

Makes me think of making a light bulb genisis to mess with people, fill it up, hang it upside down power it up and watch the room fill with vapor..... Wonder how long it'd take for a neighbor to call the fire department

I've noticed after several hours of vaping, some kind of build up forms on my mouth piece / drip tip. It's kind of a dry, crusty film. Is this something I need to worry about?

Unless it makes you have an overwhelming urge to turn a new drip tip on a lathe I'd say you'll be OK. Just ask Nurse Cratchet for an alcohol wipe, she's got plenty.
