Debating the merits of getting into mechanical mods...

I have several friends that vape and a large portion use mods with RDAs. I'm not completely sold on the idea of a dripper, because having to refill more often isn't really conducive to my work. Add in the cost of start up and the complete foreign-ness (don't judge my imaginary words ;)) and I'm still sitting on the fence after months of debating. Currently my main is an itaste MVP2 and depending on my mood either a T3D or an EVOD glass. I love that I can fill my tank and vape all day with no worries. Any suggestions are both welcome and appreciated. :D

If you really want to get into them, but want the simplicity of a tank check these out reosmods.com all the perks of a dripper with no fuss vaping all day. :)

The cost is a bit steep but you won't ever need another mod after it I am sure these mods will outlive me with minimal care. I have made the tank, to mech, to Reo switch and wish I would've started with one.

Edit: They also have a great sub-forum here that is filled with helpful folks should you have any questions.

I like my Vamo V6 for regulated vaping. I was cautious about mech mods too. But finally made the leap and I love it. You do have to use a good calculator and know the limits of your batts. But other than that it is great. The flavor change really surprised me. And dripping...dripping is where you really get into flavor country. I currently use a Patriot but I want a tugboat and a Veritas. Hope this is of some use to you.

A female perspective here. I went from eGos to a provari and I was in heaven. I then went from a pro tank on the provari to a kayfun and I wondered why I never made the leap before then. The coils were easy to do if you are careful. I always wondered about the mods too especially after hearing about how much better they are. I did my homework and decided to give it a go so I invested in an authentic turtle ship for at home use only and it is AMAZING. I topped that with UD-AGA T5 and the flavor is second to none. I love both of these devices although I'm now looking at a big dripper as dripping isn't really conductive to my lifestyle right now either. The only downside to it all is the amount of juice I am going through now. It's insane.

i'm new to vaping. i read ton of things on it and decided to go to mech mod. no chips to think about, no voltage or wattage to set. follow the ohms law, make the coil, practice battery safety, and that's it. i did considered the pros and cons of RDA and RTA. RDA is actually working out nicely for me. take the top off, drip 6-8 drops, and i'm out vaping 8-10 long slow drag. tho, i did order KFLP and TFGT.. along with Sat22..

I jumped into mechs fairly quick. I have a good understanding of electrical components and such. However my first build could have been very serious. Had a friend build a coil. Came out to .45ohms in my kayfun lite Rba. New battery. First hit, mod got extremely hot. I battled and scratched my head for three days before rebuilding my new coil and going higher in resistance. Even changed out my switch and throughly cleaned everything. I love it now and it will probably help me stop smoking cigarettes completely. You have to be careful

Once you start you may have a hard time doing much else, although, with some of newer stuff out there (dna 40) I think some things may change for some of us at least. Don't discount the MVP2. It's a killer little box and mine still sees use occasionally in a more back up mode. On a foot note whatever keeps you off the real ones is what works for you, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

.45 is a little low for a non modified KF. I'd watch or you will end up melting the insulator. Honestly I'd think more of 1 ohm or a little higher even. That's where that will work the best. (as always YMMV however the general consensus is ~1 ohm "Ish")

Holy geez thanks for all the info everyone! I didn't realize I had gotten any replies until I started hunting for my thread and was shocked! :) I do like the setup I have now. It's easy and convenient and only a little only clunky side. Most times I switch back to an 1100 mAh ego for when I'm at work only because it takes up less space. Okay moment of truth. I've been vaping off and on since January, full time since July. These forums have been my lifeline before any purchase. But I'm so terribly lost when it comes to verbage it's kind of sad. We have and awesome local vape shop and most of the crew is amazing when I have questions but my work schedule isn't always conducive to stopping by and picking brains. I have seen several people just take their mods in there and have the guys rebuild for them, which is awesome but I want to know how to do it myself- which is a mildly terrifying concept. The thing that keeps bringing me back to mods is the lack of having to buy coils and truthfully the clouds are really nifty and amuse my munchkin. She thinks they're the best. I really don't need to acquire one of everything syndrome. I've had that problem with tanks and juice as it is. I've been smoke free for 115 days and I still don't think I've broken even as far as what I've spent. :/ I'm going to go ahead and end this because I know I'm rambling and talking in circles. Thanks again you guys. Please don't stop. I love reading this stuff, even when I am not completely sure what half of it means. I'll get there.

They even offer to build them for me. :) I was just there today getting some new juice and talked to the guys that were there. They're full of all kinds of info and don't mind that I'm "vape stupid" (my term not theirs). They said if I wanted I could just come by and they would build them for me. I just don't want to have to always rely on them since I can't always get to them. The owner also told me that apparently I can drip with my mvp as long as the coils are a high enough resistance (major news for me ). Now I'm seriously contemplating getting one just to try it.
