A few days ago, I received a shipment of eliquid from one of my favorite vendors. Unfortunately, for the first time in 3 1/2 years of vaping, I saw something out if the corner of my eye floating in one of the bottles! The debris is about the size, shape and color of a fingernail (eww). I have since gone ahead and contacted the manufacturer by email, and at the moment I have every reason to believe that they will make this right (hence I have not mentioned them by name). HOWEVER...
...Obviously, things like this absolutely cannot happen on any sort of regular basis. It's bad for the consumers-in order for us to have trust in the companies we're dealing with, they've got to treat their products (and US) with respect, and make sure that big mistakes like this don't happen. Ever. It's also bad for the manufacturers, and even the industry at large- if word got out about the lack of quality control within the industry, it may lead some regulatory bodies to take control of an industry they've recently been leaving alone, and come down heavy-handed before any of the manufacturers are ready to put up any sort of a fight. Things like this could lead to the downfall of our whole scene.
The closest analogy to this whole situation which I can relate to is the Pharmaceutical industry, specifically contact lenses: Recently, after over TEN years of wearing contacts, I allowed a single, pre-packaged lens to get too hot, and upon opening it, I found that it had actually developed a moldy spot. Now, for the sake of comparison, in ten years, I have opened up at least 600 individual lenses; The number of bottles of juice I have had is closer to 100 or less. The contaminated lens had no foreign objects inside it, only the fluid itself was contaminated; The eliquid had a solid object sitting within the liquid- which is a bit more serious, because if things like that can get in, it makes you wonder...what kind of sanitary procedures are being followed when my ejuice is being made? Is the juice itself contaminated? Do the staff at XX wear gloves and protective gear, both to protect themselves and their customers? How are their supplies stored, how often do they chuck old stock etc?
The final thought I have for everyone would be that while this vendor is not currently a part of AEMSA, they are one of the top e-liquid manufacturers in terms of popularity on the forums, probably within the top 5 (and possibly one of the largest as well).
