I'm a relative newbie as well and started on the ego-t /CE4 setup. I've just bought a vision spinner (1100) and use an evod head (2.4ohm, as well as 2.8), and LOVE it. It's an easy setup for newbies like us, and a good introduction to the basics of vaping. I'm sure some others have more recommendations as well, but thought I would give my two cents :)

I'd say it is a decent setup for a beginner. Not too expensive, plus the mini davide is glass so you don't have to worry about certain eliquids destroying your tank. Just be careful not to drop it, it is glass.
If you decide you like vaping, you can go to the pricier mods later, or just stick with the ego type batts. I do have several mods, but can always rely on my egos. You can even upgrade to the ego twist or vision spinner, both variable voltage, which does the same thing as pricier mods, without breaking the bank.

It's a solid setup for a newbie. You'll probably want to upgrade the battery eventually with a Spinner/Twist or maybe an Itaste. If you're looking for bigger tanks, you can get larger versions and slap a skirt on the ego cone threading for a more seamless look. You might eventually be interested in a rebuildable tank atty, but don't jump the gun on RBA's. You'll need to learn what you're doing first or else you could end up in a dangerous situation.

That isn't bad for shop prices. It's what everyone needs to start out with in the beginning. Did the salesman steer you in the direction of the davide? If they did, it's a good thing. A lot of newbies have to go through tank cracking experiences, so with that tank you won't have to figure that out the hard way. You can just read about the bs people have to go through with that problem on here.
