Hello all.

So been using a reo since about February, thinking of getting my second here soon but had a question on finishes, and a few other questions.

1.) I either want to get the regular white LP Grand or the hammer tone LP Grand. Is the regular white finish/coating slick/slippery? Right now I have the black wrinkle and silver vein door which looks and feels great.

2.) Also, have some deoxit gold coming in. I know to put this on the pin, but should I also put this on the spring and batteries?

3.) The other day my button was sticking. Because everyone is awesome and posts their questions and answers I was easily able to figure out how to clean this. I did wonder though, rather then running water in it and moving the button up and down are we able to get the gold pin to rotate so I could pop out the button easily and clean better? Tried to but didn't want to use to much force, wasn't sure if it spun if it would create issues.

Thanks everybody. Happy Friday!

1. Not sure, but someone posted a white one the other day and I surprisingly found it to be gorgeous!

2. batteries yes, mostly the positive side. I do the negative end too, but probably not necessary.

3. The gold pin, or positive contact, is attached to the metal squonk tube that feeds your atty. You would have to remove the screw from the derlin insulator and pull the insulator to spin the contact, which means you have to remove your bottle and rubber feed tube as well.
Spinning the contact should be done carefully, I broke mine messing around with it too much.

:2c:

1. Painted is slicker to the touch than anodized, both more so than those with textured coatings on them.

2. I use DG very sparingly on all contact points... both ends of batt's, spring and positive "occasionally".

3. On my Reos with the pre adjustable 510 spinning the positive spring out of the way just enough to remove the Delrin button has never been an issue. Have not had a need on any of my new Reos with the new adjustable 510's, so have not tired.

If ya want to be really safe wait for the new one to come in first. That way if something goes wrong you have something to use while you wait for it to be repaired.

When you goto remove the black delrin cover, be carefull with that screw. When you to tighten it back up you don't want to go past snug as its real easy to strip the threads on the aluminum reo. Many have done it including me and it's a trip back to reoville for a fix.

The issue is that the Co tact pin needs to be tight to the 510 nipple and moving the pin to the side may lossin it and it may leak but you prob would be ok. I've done that before to fix the button hole. The hole was not very smooth and I took a small round file and smoothed it out so the button wouldn't rub and catch on the sides of the hole anymore.

the newest models with the ss 510 connection are much better as its way easier to swap out the contact pins if needed. The ss nipple should not break as easy as the older models so no worries of stripping the nipple or breaking it tightening it up.

Oh and my vote is a lp/sl hammer tone! You'll love the finish and feel of it and it will go great changing up the doors between the 2.

Oh and I'll just add some deoxit to the possitive and negative ends of the battery and when you put it in the reo it will then be on your contact pin and spring. ;)

Use an eraser to clean any gunk off your contact pin and 91-99% isopropyl rubbing alcohol to clean only. Can find that at any drug store in the pharmacy.

Thanks for tips everybody. Yeah, didn't wanna mess with that positive pin to much until I have extras on hand, running water and moving the button worked just fine.

Gonna have to think on it a little more, could always do the hammer tone and order a sl white door, see they had those in stock and think would look pretty slick.

According to Rob the Hammertone finish is the most durable for those that drop or otherwise might be harder on their Reos due to their type of job, etc. Two of mine are HT, a LP Grand now wearing a TRA door, and a Mini 2.1. They feel great in hand, but my favorite for feel in hand is still my 3 TRA's. They feel "silky", and are not finger print magnet's. Bottom line... Reo color is a personal thing, so there is no such thing as a bad choice.

Good point. The bright white looks really sharp, that's what started to get me away from the previous first choice of hammer tone.

Hmmmm.... think i'll have to go with the instinct and stick with the white. So long as it doesn't slip out of the hand like a greased pig haha think I'll be ok.

Thanks again everyone.

My white Grand wasn't slick at all. I never dropped it and I'm an incurable klutz. I wouldn't have sold it but I'm shooting for an all SL Grand line up. A white SL/LP is most certainly on my wish list. I think the white mods look fantastic.

And, I think they are powder coated vs painted.

It's not an sl but this will give you an idea of the hammer tone with a white door pardon the pink atty :)

I have a white grand and I will join the ones saying it's not a slick feel it is smooth. The hammer tone has the same smooth finish with texture if that makes sense.

I'll see if I can find the ht door and get you a pic of it on white mod...here it is

I like the SL doors, but not sure about the SL bodies. Not sure how that would feel in the hand.

Well, I held off buying SL's because of the expected feel and unsure about the look being able to see internal components. But I finally took the plunge on a LP/SL Grand TRA, it grew on me, I bought a second LP/SL Grand Gold Ano, and they both get used daily. About 3 more of them are on the list as LP/SL Mini 2.1's to run 3 more Chalice III's if I figure out which color/finishes I'd want. There is considerable difference in weight from the solid Reos, they feel just fine in my hand, and the look adds nice variety to my Reo family IMO.

Really appreciate the pictures, thank you.

Think I've settled on doing the white and get an SL white door, both of which will look good on my black wrinkle, and then I'll have a silver vein door to swap. If I end up getting a third, which is a possibility at some point, will have to do all SL for variety like Spydro said.

Thanks again everybody, appreciate the help and suggestions.

And order has been placed. White LP Grand, and ordered some extra bits for back up parts. Figured would save the money on the SL Door, and just wait cause I bet I will get a third before I'm done buying and maybe that one will be all SL.

I have only vaped unflavored for some time, but with the ease of rewicking and such with the reos, and now that I will have 2, ordered some juice from epipe mods, I remember really liking their long bottom leaf and oak barrel cider.

Now the wait.
