Need help with getting into temp control. First up is the mod:

I am totally open but had a few questions.

1)I almost pulled the trigger on the Sx mini m. But it's $200! Is this something I should really consider or can I get better bang for buck elsewhere?

2)outside of that, i was considering the sigelei 75w, the Joye VT and the ipv3. Any issues/considerations with those?

3)Would it be better to wait a bit to see what is released next in pipeline? Only problem is I'm a bit impulsive...

Price isn't too big an issue; I just don't want to overpay for something.

Next: topper. What should I consider. My buddy is offering me a Delta II for free so that's a good start! Other than that, what has been y'all's experience with attys and temp control?

IMO, i'd hold back for a bit and see what develops in the next month or so.

With the impending release of the DNA200 and likely Innokins new temp control should be some interesting developments in the near future.

...but then there will be something else in the pipeline so wait for that...etc etc...Always the dilemna!!!!

SX Mini M Class is defo bang for buck. If I was buying one on a lower budget i'd go for the Joyetech VT.

TC is about to get interesting, Innokin claim to have TC able to work on all wire types including kanthal, if it works that'll be my next purchase.

I definitely wouldn't be an early adopter for any new Evolv DNA tech, based on prior experience i'd want to see A LOT of reviews first

SX is a good device. If you are ok with DNA40s, the vaporsharks (DNA and rDNA) have become much cheaper recently prior to the DNA200 launch presumably

The innokin system will be interesting but be prepared to commit to using their own atties as the temp sensing is done within the atty/coil head as far as anyone can tell. I doubt this will work
with anything else, at least for the time being!

Really can't go wrong with the dna 40 or yihi. Dna's can be had for 100bucks, yihi has comparable offerings.

I never had a problem with my vaporshark other than the cybermonday debacle. Never used a yihi but from the forum reviews I'd have no worries about getting one.

Dna200 sounds cool but I honestly have no desire to go lipo. I have the batteries and charger for the 18650 format, that's just more crap to buy. Not to mention I would never use 200 watts anyway. They should make a 150w dual 18650 version, then I'd be all like

Thanks for the replies, all.

I'm seriously considering the Evic-VT -a local shop got some in yesterday that I will go see in person. However, I'm also intrigued by the yihi mini m. Can anyone elucidate what the differences might be? On the surface, they seem to do the same thing very well. But one is less than half the price of the other. What am I missing here?

As a first foray, I was able to pick up a Heatwave Invader, which I had never heard of, for the bargain price of $55 at a local B&M. Apparently they weren't selling, so I looked up a few reviews and at the price I thought, why not? Looks kinda cool anyway.

After discovering that the manual had an error about entering temp adjustments, I had it all setup with a STmini and nickel coil. I am impressed! I have some Propoganda Illuminati which I am enjoying at 500F. Perfect hits every time, just the right temperature -beautiful. What a concept!

Now that I understand a bit more (meaning "scratched that itch" ;) ), I'm gonna hold off a bit on the higher end TC mods to see what comes out. I need to educate myself a bit more on what the other boards are capable of and where my next money should go. As always, I appreciate your feedback and suggestions.

Looking for another mod too.

Are there any single 18650 TC mods besides
VF mini
Heatvape Invader
Vaporshark
SX mini M
Hana

I have the VF mini in vapemail, the invader in the queue. Before getting the VS I wanted to check for other single batt mods since the SX and Hana are a bit expensive for me.
But somehow I just find dual battery like the ipv3 and 4 and the snowwolf etc.

If you can afford it go for it, but things are probably going to look very different next year.
Right now temperature control is implemented by using nickel coils, and it is done so by using resistance as a measure of temperature.
Nickel is not a resistance wire.

By next year there will probably be a wider array of options

This! Like always, a little bit more patience will pay off. Prices will drop (for most things vape related) and products will get even better.

Note: the SX Mini likely will not have its price drop, at least significantly, for a long while.

The V1 is glitchy but they are going for less than £25 in UK now. They arent THAT bad...!!!

ps. somone posted in the invader thread that pressing the fire button for a few seconds prior to 5 x press avoids the resetting/not turning on issue and I can confirm that this seems to work very well!

I have 2 IPV 4's and they are great in my opinion. For $79 each it was worth it. Just started using the temp control feature on them and love it. Making nickel coils to me are easier than Kanthal. The wire is not spring like Kanthal is and you dont have to heat it up to make it stay in the shape you want.

You can already find them for 150 on occasion. Once the dna 200 drops I bet 120 for a mini will happen.
