Hi ...

I've been on the e-wagon for 2.5 years now and, unless I've contracted Alzheimers, it would seem that the quility of 901 atomisers and batteries has declined over the past 6 months or so.

I seem to recall that atomisers would last me almost a month rather than less than a week currently.

batteries too seem to be a lot crappier.

Does anyone else have the same experience?

I don't know about that. Where are you buying from? I was getting my 901 supplies straight from China. It may be a bad batch of electronics or quality control. It may be your liquid is too thick and putting a strain on your atomizers and batteries. I do think the Joye 510 (the genuine ones) are higher quality than some of the others that are available.

I moved to mods with bigger batteries more than a year ago. I recently discovered the IKV 510 cannon. It's a 510 battery connector on an 801 type atomizer. Comes in stealth (black) or stainless and in multiple Ω ratings.

I usually get my kit from .uk - anything outside .eu gets heavily taxed here :-(

Is 801/510 stuff compatible with 901 chargers or do I need to buy a bunch of new ones?

You will need a new one. There have been significant advances in the last year. A basic 901 is really old technology. But prices are way lower, overall.

There is a British company that sells a RIVA 901 kit which is probably about 20 times better in consistency, battery life and throat hit that what I assume you currently have. Check out Liberty Flights, they have some of the best prices:

You could try some manual KR808D-1 batteries with 901 atomizers - LiteCigUSA.net has those batteries for $10 each

I had trouble with 901 attys. When i would screw one one, instead of stopping when fully on, the barrel would rotate a bit causing some kind of plastic armature in the coil compartment to partially block the air intake holes on the side of the atty, ruining the airflow. Then to compound the problem, I just could not clean them well because the coil compartment is so well sealed.

I've been preferring the LR 901 atty's from Vapor Kings bulk atty's lately. The first one lasted about 3 weeks, the second is going on a month and still performing well. Even if they don't last for months, at $3.70 apiece you can't beat it. In my opinion the 901 gives better flavor, holds 4 drops of juice when dripping instead of 3 like a 510, gives a slightly warmer vape, and costs less per unit. As far as quality, I was getting equal life out of the LR 510's I was using before.

You can't use LR attys on a 120 mAh battery.

I must be the only nut in the squirrel's hide-a-way that thinks that 510 is warmer than a 901. I've even tried the LR's and still find the 510 is better. Even tried the LR 901 cartomizers and still didn't like them.

Unfortunately, the product that sells the best will be the product that gets the most attention. If the 901 is what you love, stick with it. Sorry to hear that QC is stinking with them. Hopefully it will get better.
