Good morning Clowder!
Me too!
Back in the day, I had a job at a major hospital. It basically for the most part consisted of me getting paid to run around all day cleaning PCs of viruses and spyware.
When getting paid for it, my philosophy was that if it came down to it and I ended up having to wipe the drive and rebuild it, I would have lost the battle or given up. I learned a lot about their tricks, where they hide their stuff, all kinds of strategies and tools to attack it, etc.
I remember getting flack for occasionally spending too much time on a particular PC, but out of the hundreds of PCs I fixed I don't remember ever having to format a hard drive. I somehow always managed to completely clean all of the viruses and spyware leaving the rest of the data intact.
Things have changed since then. I'm no longer paid to do that, they've gotten much more advanced and elaborate, and I don't always have the free time that it takes to research and thoroughly eliminate the issues.
Not long ago I had a problem on one of my own PCs and was having a heck of a time getting rid of it. So I tried the free version of Malwarebytes. It fixed me right up and saved me from wiping my own hard drive just to get the PC fully functional again. So when I saw the option to get the full PREVENTATIVE version, I checked the price on the website and found it to be very reasonable based on it's effectiveness.
