i probably could have called, not something i wanted to do from the checkout line at walmart. It was easier to pull out different plastic.
So you all know... there have been a few major thefts of CC info that should be making the major news networks now. One in particular group were caught very early and the CC actually canceled them all nearly immediately, other companies are playing the statistics game and waiting. Either way, if it wasn't bad enough that it's near the end of the year (holiday purchases and traveling out of state), the criminals stepped it up a notch (or 5) this year with their SS and CC theft. Expect your cards to get declined and try to have backup payment methods if you can.
@Digimon2K - I visited the site, but everytime I go to donate, I'm reminded I have family who also need the moneyIf witch or anyone remembers me talking about the Red Barn Auction... well, the normal auctioneer was my uncle, and he just passed away

I understand the caution. I've had a stop put on my card once when I was buying a piece of furniture or something. What made this one weird/annoying to me was that they were small amounts (and they were going to charities.)
Condolences on your uncle.
It's really pretty bad this year. The people who sell dumps of stolen credit card numbers even offered a Black Friday special this year!
You can't be serious!
wait
yeah, you can be.
Well, I do know that card #'s can't be stolen from us... we don't keep a record of them. Well... the last 4 digits in case we have to do followups with our processor.
Our site also gets tested every month for vulnerabilities by TrustWave.
Completely serious... black friday discounts... advertised, black friday discounts... I always wondered though... these places (some of) accept credit card payments for their list of credit card dumps... I wonder how often they get paid for with stolen credit cards![]()

One liquid vendor, who shall remain nameless as it is NOT deejStuff, insisted he didn't keep CC numbers. I believe him. But his site (and no other that I have ever visited) was set up so it thought the space for the card number was just another space on a form. As soon as I'd type in the first digit, my whole card number would appear for me to select. That's fine if, like me, no one else has access to your computer. For people using a shared or, worse still, a public computer, it wasn't exactly ideal.
It's your browser offering up the number to you, but the site owner could have at least tried to use ```autocomplete="off" ```. There are other ways to try and prevent this, sadly some browser revisions still don't care and offer up your numbers anyway... plus there are plug-ins and extensions that prevent this from working as well.
I would hope that if someone is using their CC on a public computer, that the CC is disposable. It's just too easy to capture all keys etc on public machines.
