Finally made an appointment to take him to the vet. Money's getting tight so it's now or never to get him fixed. Haven't had any issues at all as far as that goes, but everyone tells me I should have it done anyway. Even the vet says "it's healthier", I don't get it. I've always been an "if it aint broke don't fix it" kind of guy. So removing healthy body parts doesn't seem all that healthy to me.
The real reason I made the appointment was to get the hernia type issue I mentioned before looked at. This way if needed I can save some money by having both surgeries (if needed) done at the same time. It too has not really been an issue and doesn't seem to affect his running around and jumping / playing etc. But it does seem to be getting more noticeable.
He's always laid funny. When on his belly his back legs will either be spread to the sides or his back feet will be kind of stretched out behind him. Or some combination of both. Thinking it's to keep pressure off of the hernia or whatever it is.
He is really a great cat. I don't think a single day goes by where he doesn't make me laugh out loud at least once. He's such a character, and very affectionate at times. Pretty well behaved most of the time too. He'll jump up and watch me prepare his food, but won't try to touch it until I put it down for him. In fact, I think the only time he misbehaves is when he feels he's not getting enough attention.
He's absolutely addicted to the laser pointer. We've got a routine. He doesn't even think about it any other time of day, but at night when I sit on the bed to watch TV it's time. I of course act all nonchalant, but he knows right where the laser's kept and will start meowing and pawing at the night stand. If I ignore his needs too long he'll walk to different parts of the bedroom and sit and meow for a bit, then move and meow some more.
Once I pick it up, he'll run over and put his paw on my hand waiting for the light to come on. Then the chase is on, he runs around like a nut, even trying to climb the walls to get the red dot. Sometimes I'll get him running around in a tight circle, barely bigger than his own body. He'll spin and spin very fast til he finally gets too dizzy. Then the best part, he'll stop chasing but either his head or .... will still move around a little from being dizzy. He'll try to take a couple steps but they're very wobbly.
Cracks me up every time!
