WooHoo!

After this morning's escapade, I finally felt motivated enough to run a hardwired network cable from the front (up where the internet service enters my apt) back to the bedroom / mancave. Previously I just had a wifi router out front and used wifi for every device in the house.

As we know, wifi can be very persnickety and suffer greatly from environmental factors (walls, microwaves, cordless phones, other people's nearby wifi, etc etc).

I had an old router sitting around doing nothing so I set it up to act as a switch. Now I've got my laptop and Roku box hardwired to the internet.

Before over wifi I was getting less than half of that, plus in the back it would fluctuate wildly causing streaming video to either buffer or fall back to a lower quality.

Bottom line is now I should never have to worry again about streaming video buffering on me. :)
