I was going to say a scarlet macaw with a very weird head.
    That's pretty cool.
Yeah the head and tail are a little off, but when I first saw it I fell for it too. Just thought maybe the owner did some sort of custom feather trimming or something, to give it a unique look.

But this being the internet, I thought this surely can't just be what it looks like. I was looking pretty hard for any indication it was a person, but couldn't really distinguish anything.

After seeing the article and limb positioning, it becomes a lot more clear.

Head feathers are very short. You couldn't puff them up like a poodles. Neck feathers fluff well. There is a Hawk Parrot. When it spreads it's neck feathers, it really looks like a bird of prey. Annabella could do an impressive neck ruff when agitated. I've never seen Poeia do it -- I guess it's not a conure thing.

I think the most beautiful bird I have ever seen was a Lilac Macaw at the aviary in Pittsburgh PA.

    Sounds really pretty.

I just googled it. They're Hyacinth Macaws -- probably a mutation. I adore Hyacinths but I wouldn't want one as a pet. They weigh around 3 pounds. They are the largest flighted parrot there is.

No, it was a Hyacinth Macaw... I got my flowers mixed up again  He was young when we were there last and they were acclimating him to people in the lobby. As a greeter of sorts but not allowed to touch. LOL

With those beaks, you wouldn't want to touch one you didn't know very well. Annabella was a Yellow-Collar Macaw. That's one of the minis, they have the long tail and the white eyepatch but are much, much smaller. She could crack open a duck bone in less than a minute. A Hyacinth wouldn't have any trouble with a turkey leg bone (or a human one.)
