Howdy Y'all! Happy Monday!

Now that homelessness is off the table, I gotta figure out what to do with myself and all this free time. Gonna have to come up with some sort of routine or something. I need structure to ward off the impending insanity.

Got plenty to keep me busy though. Lots of cleanup and reorganization needs to be done around here. Probably gut 1 or 2 rooms worth of crap pretty much. Lots of junk to get rid of, probably donate some and fill my landlord's dumpster with the rest. Should keep me busy for a few months, doing a little each day.

Hard to know where to begin, there's just so much clutter built up over 15 years in the same place. Almost feel like a hoarder!

You may or may not have heard about the Heartbleed vulnerability. Just want to let you all know that per the folks at https://www.ssllabs.com/ the deejStuff presence rates an A- in overall security, and is NOT vulnerable to Heartbleed.

We'll be working for an A+ over the next few weeks... just because.

PC questions of the day

When you open a folder of pictures (mostly jpegs), Dad's computer used to show previews of the pictures on the right. Now they all look like a generic picture of an ocean with a green, mountainous island on the horizon. You can still see the pics if you open the photo viewer but he wants to go though them and toss some. Preview makes that easier. Thinking about it, the change might have started when we installed the new monitor but I'm not sure.

Also (but not as importantly) is there any way to make the divider between the list of files and the preview pane stay put? It keeps sliding to the left. My sister and I have no trouble moving it but my father really doesn't have the fine motor skills to do it any longer and it's easier for him if more of the file info is showing.

On the 1st one... open the folder, right-click in an empty area, choose View and then select one of the Icons options... Small, Medium, Large or Extra Large.

On the 2nd one... I know how to turn the preview pane on and off, but not how to permanently resize it. I run with it off, so I never looked into it.

Good morning :)

Poeia, I think there is a way to globally set folder views, that would give you thumbnails, and possibly set the preview pane width. something about "apply these changes to all folders". I have no idea where to find it. I've run across it looking for something else, and have never found it when i was looking for it. (it's early enough and my caffeine level isn't up yet, so for a minute or so, i thought your "PC" question was going to be about political correctness   )

To apply the current view setting to other folders
While browsing folders in the Computer folder, you can apply the current view setting to all folders on your computer that are optimized for the same content as the folder you have open. For instance, the My Pictures folder is optimized for picture files. If you open this folder and change the view to Large Icons, you can apply the Large Icons view to every folder that's optimized for pictures. (This setting does not apply when viewing files and folders using libraries.)

Open a folder, click the arrow next to the Views button Picture of the Views button on the toolbar, and choose a view setting.

On the toolbar, click Organize, and then click Folder and search options.

In the Folder Options dialog box, click the View tab, click Apply to Folders, click Yes, and then click OK.

Tip
To change the type of file that a folder is optimized for, right-click the folder, click Properties, click the Customize tab, click a file type in the Optimize this folder for list, and then click OK.
