Have already touched on this subject a few times as can be seen here- http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/vapor4life/278785-slim-line-charging-cycles-info.html and here- http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-long-term-use-affects-usb-wall-chargers.html

Which lead to this latest test of how many cycles you'll get from a king diamond or stealth with deep cycling and the slim line charger. These batteries were taken to the blink (or death in terms of the stealth) every time with wow cartos and heavily chain vaped when not being tested (at times the battery was ran down in as little as 35 minutes of use).

Batt 1- King diamond shorty

Starting voltage with 2.3ohm wow-

4.19 (at start), 4.17 (9min), 4.15 (18min), 4.12 (27min), 4.07 (36min), 4.06 (45 min), 4.04 (54min), 4.01 (63min), 3.99 (72min), 3.96 (81min), 3.95 (90min), 3.93 (99min), 3.92 (108min), 3.87 (117min), 3.85 (126 min), 3.84 (135min), 3.71 (144min), 7 minutes later flashes.

100 charges later-

4.19 (at start), 4.17 (9min), 4.14 (18min), 4.12 (27min), 4.08 (36min), 4.06 (45 min), 4.04 (54min), 4.01 (63min), 3.99 (72min), 3.96 (81min), 3.95 (90min), 3.93 (99min), 3.92 (108min), 3.87 (117min), 3.84 (126 min), 3.82 (135min), 3.71 (144min), 5 minutes later blinks

After 173 charges noticed a loss in time, so on charge 174 did a voltage panel-

4.19 (at start), 4.15 (9min), 4.13 (18min), 4.10 (27min), 4.04 (36min), 4.02 (45 min), 4.01 (54min), 3.97 (63min), 3.94 (72min), 3.91 (81min), 3.88 (90min), 3.85 (99min), 3.82 (108min), 3.74 (117min), 3 minutes later flashes.

Quite a drop from the 438 charges I've gotten out one without deep cycling....

Stealth auto with 2.3ohm wow carto-

Shorty- 4.19 (at start), 4.18 (9min), 4.16 (18min), 4.13 (27min), 4.09 (36min), 4.08 (45 min), 4.05 (54min), 4.03 (63min), 4.01 (72min), 3.99 (81min), 3.97 (90min), 3.95 (99min), 3.93 (108min), 3.90 (117min), 3.87 (126 min), 3.85 (135min), 3.82 (144min), 3.76 (153min), 6 minutes later stopped producing vapor.

After 100 charges-

4.19 (at start), 4.17 (9min), 4.15 (18min), 4.13 (27min), 4.09 (36min), 4.08 (45 min), 4.05 (54min), 4.03 (63min), 4.01 (72min), 3.99 (81min), 3.97 (90min), 3.95 (99min), 3.93 (108min), 3.90 (117min), 3.87 (126 min), 3.85 (135min), 3.82 (144min), 3.75 (153min), 5 minutes later stopped producing vapor.

After charge 184 noticed a drop off in run time, so charge 185 did a panel-

Shorty- 4.19 (at start), 4.16 (9min), 4.12 (18min), 4.08 (27min), 4.06 (36min), 4.03 (45 min), 4.01 (54min), 3.99 (63min), 3.97 (72min), 3.95 (81min), 3.93 (90min), 3.91 (99min), 3.87 (108min), 3.83 (117min), 3.79 (126 min), 3.71 (135min), 3 minutes later stopped producing vapor.

Again a major difference between deep cycling them and not......

Most excellent Morandir!!!

Thanks for taking the time to prove what every Lithium battery manufacturer and battery experts have ever noted. Whenever vapor production falls off and there is a notable change in flavor it's always a good idea to toss the battery on the charger instead of waiting for the battery shut-off to kick in. This will keep your vaping experience at a premium and extend the longevity of your battery.

How long does it normally take to charge an ego?

Forever.......

Around 5-6 hours....outside of the initial out-of-the-box charge. If I need to charge an Ego I set it aside and toss it on the charger before I go to bed.

I tell folks to always be attentive when charging brand new batteries for the first time...just in case.

Snow, I have given the same info to customers on the charge times but what is the longest you've seen an eGO take to charge?

5 to 6 hours.

You never know what the factory charge is when you first get any proprietary PV. I have had batteries arrive fully charged, partially charged, and in need of a full charge.

There is such a beast known as the Ego Rapid Charger, but the only thing rapid about it is the realization that it doesn't charge your Ego any quicker than a standard charger. As well, it is only available for use with the standard 510 ego connector.

650 mAh........3.5-4.5 hours
900 mAh........5-6 hours
1,000 mAh.....5-6 hours

I have never torn an Ego apart for testing, not my specialty, but if I were to guess there is probably a regulator which only allows the unit to trickle charge. More than likely it is to prevent the cell from overheating. I think the highest rated mAh for an Ego is 1,300 (somebody correct me if I am wrong) but I have never owned one so I can't speak to that.

Long charge times have always been a minor drawback of the Ego. Yep...they perform for a long time, but they also suffer from a stiffer draw and have a long drop off time. Unlike a KR battery, specifically the Diamonds which keep you in that perfect 4.19 to 3.8v range then drop off quickly. The Egos can start a little lower then live forever between in the drop off of 3.8 and 3.5v. It's not even a drop off really, it's more like rolling downhill on a 2% grade for a 100 miles.

This is also why the VV Twist is gaining immense popularity, no more long drop off and they have cross-notched the connector for better airflow.

Some folks like the stiffer draw, personally I'm not a big fan. It's due to the architecture of the Ego connector. Look at your KR Ego, when you screw a Tank on it what happens to the air intake holes on the connector? They get sealed off by the stepped threaded collar of the connector, add 1.25 mm to the post and 1 more thread and voila! Increased airflow. Put a tank on a KR and you will note that air intake holes are exposed, hence a more airy (imo) better draw. The same holds true for standard Egos models in 510, except the airholes on the carto connector are buried in the connector threads.

All that being said, when you dole out these added pearls of wisdom out on this particular sub-forum, a little attribution would be appreciated.
