Every year when we discuss Christmas decorations, I elaborate on my desired theme, it is a giant sleigh with Santa being towed by eight reindeer, with red glowing eyes and huge plumes of fire shooting out of their butts...I never git my wish, but the images in my minds eye are spectacular to behold...

Yeah, well stupid stuff women do, I was all pleased to wax my legs, for the first time, the afternoon before my anniversary so I could "look good." My legs are indeed hairless, but mottled in red and bule, and STICKY. I clearly need a wax removal product (Guess I will buy more rayon from Sally's.

But, I attended my celebration "dinner" in jeans, plus knee high socks, to cut down on the stickynesss. Otherwise, it was kinda fun.

It did kind of hurt, too. I haven't been able to bring myself to take a pic. I really should/shouldn't. I'm ashamed of my aesthetic skills. LOL.

I only waxed my shins. I get scary bug hair down there, otherwise I'm pretty hairless except for my head. LOL. I get these HUGE spidery hairs (actually not unlike the pic) down there, and it's clearly a dominant gene, not a recessive one. All my siblings have it so does my kiddo.

I had this weird thought that I might wax my armpits, that is NEVER happening. LOL. At least not until my skills improve. I think waxing by someone else is less painful, because you don't BRACE yourself for it. I broke down and got a waxing kit (WELL MOST OF IT) because I get so tired of shaving. With a fine motor tremor, I cut myself all the time.

LOL, I broke down. Not sure this outcome is much better, and sadly I bet the husband it would be better in two days. I may LOSE that bet. :D

I now know things that I wish that I did not know.

That's kind of spooky. Don't happen to know the story behind it, do you?
It is some ancient ritual still carried on to this day on the Italian island of Sardinia, the roots I am not sure of but here is a little quote of text from an internet friend I know from there:
Believe me, Mamuthones do not keep from drinking red wine for sure :D (even though under the whole sheep coat it must be awfully hot even without alcohol); what I can tell you for sure, is that no matter what they do now, they still have something of their old oscure times.
My island has a long (meaning, centuries' old) history of foreign populations occupying the coastal areas, and none of them managed to really invade the inner land (most of them didn't even try). This past somehow fed the sense of pride, closure (to "foreigners"), loyalty and bond to our traditions, which is, as you can imagine, much stronger in the inner parts of the island. I will try to see if I can find a decent videos of the mamuthones from Samugheo (same name, somehow similar dress, but from another village). They reproduce some sort of Dionisiac rite where the central figure celebrates in frenzy, then dies and is born again. As you can guess, not a rite born a few years ago...

Here's an aricle from a quick google machine search
