Hi everyone.
I'm new to vaporizing, I was a smoker for 16 years, and trying very hard not to go back.
I recently bought a iTaste SVD and I'm getting very inconsistent results. Its fully charged and have a iclear 30 as the tank at a resistance of 2.1. I'm vaporizing at 7-10 to find the "sweet spot" , and have had nothing but trouble. One minute I'll have a great throat hit , fantastic vapor , good taste and then a minute later it will taste burnt and very little vapor . I've tried three different juices ; Bumble Bee , and two house blends from the store I got it from. I'm getting a little frustrated and needed to seek some advise from some people . With the result I get I only increase the wattage when the results become inconstant. Sometimes I get a metallic taste (thinking maybe a coil ?) . I'm wondering if I'm doing it wrong or if its defective. Its just really weird that one minute at 7.5w I get a great all around hit and then a minute later I barely get any vapor and it tastes horrible . I need some help here I start my working on my B.S computer science degree soon and I know its going to be stressful , and don;t want to turn back to smoking. If it is defective does any one have a recommendation for a vv/w device ?
Thank you.

Sounds like to me that the wicks are not getting enough time to re-saturate, thus the burnt taste. Do you know the pg/vg ratio of your juice? If you have a higher vg rate, the liquid is thicker and is slower to saturate the wick. Burnt metal definitely sounds like the coil has no juice on it.

Try different tanks on the SVD to find one that wicks quick enough for you.

Are you chain vaping? taking hit and another hit quickly? If so slow down to give the wick a chance to saturate. You can also do a dry hit, meaning, taking a hit on the tank without hitting the firing button to encourage liquid into the wick.

Hi firstly welcome to ECF

Sounds like the tank isnt wicking correctly. I used to have the same issue with the iclear30 (which came with the SVD) with some thicker eliquid.

I used some distilled water to thin the juice in a small bottle I had around. Gave it a good shake and put it back into the tank. Cranked it up to around 8watts and the vape was perfect everytime. You can also use some vodka if you'd prefer.

You'll need a juice with a higher PG content, I would recommend a 70%PG/30% VG.

Hope this helps. I didnt use the iclears for very long and soon moved into rebuilables. But everyone to their own.

I have an svd and at first needed to swap it out for a second due to a similar issue. Mine would read the ohms but then not fire and when it did fire sometimes it seamed very weak. New one I have seams Ok so far.

I also bought a vamo v5 which I could recommend and like more than my svd. Recently bought a provari and like the idea of the warranty and known reliability though honestly can't really say I notice any difference between the 3 when I swap the same tank among them but I wanted the reliability.

Now the tank could also account for some inconsistency depending on how your using it. I know both my iclear 30b and 30s can be inconsistent as well if I try to take another puff to soon after the last resulting in a dry burnt hit. Sometimes I can chain vape of my iclear 30 and 30s. Other times I need a few dry pulls in between fires to help the wicks stay wet.

Now I love my aspire bdc tanks the most and highly recommended them. I get the occasional flood and the coils don't seam to last as long but they are the most consistent pull after pull even when I chain vape when I drink. I also ordered a protank 3 and a carto tank just to try and see what works best for me.

So sorry for the long answer but it could easily be the tank. I would try the tank on another device to see if you get the same results or pick yourself up another brand tank and see if the svd still gives you the same trouble. If neither seams like an option you can just swap it out.
