There are some manufactures that offer PEG (Polyethylen Glycol).

In the synthesis of PEG there may contain minute traces of DEG.

I am not sure if any Canadian Vendors carry PEG products.

Didn't know that, thanks Rob. All the more reason to steer clear of PEG completely. I'll stick to my PG/ VG mixes :)

To me PEG was/is a green wood preservative, so I never thought twice about using it. I have come to understand that PEG 400 is what is used to vape and totally different than the preservative. However, considering that trace amounts of DEG can be found in PEG, I wonder if that is what started the FDA's ball rolling that one e cigs sample contained DEG.

yeah the density doesn't matter in this sense as far as I am concerned, it's still PEG Wood preservative, radiator fluid, and so on. I know PEG is used as a PG replacement in tons of other products ranging from hand creams to pills I believe, but those substances aren't heated to the point of vaporization.

I even have mixed feelings on PG these days, as VG doesn't seem to burn as easily to me. Not that I think it's harmful per se (unless you have a sensitivity like yourself Switched) but burned PG can't be good for you and it tastes burned at 6v.

100% VG juices are appealing to me more and more as time goes on.

The one thing I love about this conversation is the fact that people, when introduced to vaping, are very concerned about the contents. However they do not seem to blink at the bad stuff in Analogs.

Regards,
Rob

That is so true. Compared to analogs, e-cigs are nothing to worry about. Even the burned PG at 6v I mentioned before is nothing compared to cigs (obviously not recommended though).

I believe most people are intimidated by what they don't yet understand and that manifests in greatly exaggerated "vaping risks" that are really not much of one. Though vaping DEG in even trace amounts is not something I would do. PG however I vape all the time.

well on my part, as a newbie, i saw my first ecig on the net about a week or so...smokers do not realize (or dont give a s***) the dangers of analog cigs until they (I) start having symtoms, and now i get it .. now that i have ''woken up'', it's normal ,imo, that i want to know the facts

but as far as my personnal research, yes they are safe. my concern was for the 1 of 18 tested by the FDA contained DEG. i'd just rather play it safe

and also i would like to say that please forgive my grammer , i am french....loll

It's alright Strat, that really is a valid concern. Almost all of us here "woke up" and had similar questions at first. I myself have questioned things from the plastics used and even metal compounds for drip tips. It's always better to ask imho than it is to blindly accept a product on faith, otherwise you will have quite a collection of over-priced, ill manufactured knock offs.

The chances of buying a PEG juice in Canada right now is slim. Really all we have available to us is VG and PG and nothing truly organic as far as I know (most of the juices, regardless if they are PG or VG are almost completely organic except for the flavoring)

As for the symptoms that was my biggest motivator though I tried to quit years before. A little over a year in and I feel a LOT better.
