I'm new to DIY and have been feeling a bit strange after vaping my first mixes. I'm using fairly low concentrations of flavoring, between 5pc & 10pc, so I think it might be because I used vodka to thin down the VG.

I have bought some deionized water to use, but all I could find was a product labelled 'rust prevention for irons - also suitable for car batteries'. There is no other information on the label, but the bottle has a chid-proof cap, which makes me think it probably isn't fit for human consumption. I don't know if this is the case for all deionized water, or just this one.

Should I look a bit harder and find something better, or is all deionized water safe to use in mixes?

Personally, I wouldn't vape anything that is intended for industrial or automotive use, it likely has many impurities and/or other additives not intended for inhalation. I would definitely keep looking for a better solution. If you really cant find anything else, I would try contacting the company that manufactures it and ask them exactly what is in the product and whether or not it would be safe for your intended use.

edit:
I take that back, there is no reason that you need to be using deionized water, distilled water is more pure and far easier to come by, just go down to a local grocery store and get a three gallon jug of distilled water for two bucks.
