Hi guys, so first here is what i am using right now.

VAMO, boge f16 tank and carto (flanged and punched) (1.6 ohms) with a 70/30 juice.

so i just recently switched to carto tanks after getting sick of clearo problems, and i love it so far. The first time i filled this carto tank it went perfectly, but after each tank refill the quality got worse, mainly there is a delay when i vape, like i press the button, and it takes about 5 seconds to get going and hear the crackle, and the crackle is way lower than it was before.

I figured i didn't prime the carto enough, i am filling the tank too high (near the top) or this carto is already dying on the 3rd day/3 or 4 tank refills.

any ideas?

i am also waiting on some vapemail with the innokin SVD, smok UDCT tank with a 5 pack of dual coil cartos.

i am not an expert, but i am very good at mechanical doohickies, from my brief experience its your juice, the 70% PG is thick enough that it will take more time than a thinner liquid to fill the carto. i have been doing nothing but experiment since i became a vapor, and have noticed marked differences in performance when using higher VG vs higher PG. jut my thoughts

for wicking
in a carto tank everyone says 50/50 wicks best. Although I have no problem with wicking using my preferred mix of 30pg/70vg works great with pre punched cartos with 2 holes. When i first got a pre punched (factory punched smoktech) carto i thought the holes would be too small as the manual punched ones I used before with 2 holes worked well. So i purchased some with 3 holes and IMO that was overkill and flooded with my mix maybe 100% vg would be good with 3 holes.

Now onto carto life.
darker liquids gunk up the coil faster so cartos used with dark colored liquid will not last as long as with a clear or almost clear liquid
Now I basically vape one tank a day (3-5 ml) so knowing that i have had cartos last me 3 weeks and others 3 days. Also IMO most smoktech cartos i have had usually last me 3-7 days on average with boge cartos (not factory punched yet, next carto for me to try) they normally lasted me at least a week up to 3 (i have never had a carto for longer than 4 weeks, now i have had cartos that still worked, the coil had not broken, although they get gunked too much provide almost no vapor and start to spit liquid)
Lastly
crackle i don't know about as i have had some that were loud and some that were almost silent but all preformed fine unless the crackle sound is too loud and bothers you then don't worry about it. As for not priming it enough the result of not priming the carto is, if the carto is dry when you fire it it will get red hot and burn the fibers surrounding the coil. Once you burn your carto you will always get a burnt taste from that carto because the inside is burned and it adds bad flavor to your liquid.

Anything i didn't answer?

I'm using straight cartos these days, I used to use cartos and tanks and I would get pre punched and I also punched my own too.

either way each carto makes different sounds, I generally find the smok tecs crackle and the boges have a whoosh sound.
but things do change. and also different voltages and different ohms change things up too regard the crackle and the whoosh sounds

Using another boge from the pack now, better performance but still seems off. Maybe I'm just not used to cartos. I thought about those smoketech mega cartos, they better in any way over tank cartos? Also in a bit I will try my new smoke tech udct tank with a smoktech dual coil carto, can't wait to see the difference. Gonna try it with halo captain jack.

edit: ok so i filled my new smoktech udct with captain jack (halo) it its amazing, but the carto that came with it is silent, no crackling at all. and it was hard to fill, it never looked slushy, and i wasted a ton of juice that came out of the bottom.

any ideas?
