I don't know for sure what they come stock with, but I do know my heads have Shiseido japanese cotton in them.
when I got my Delta II and pack of heads the whole thing smelled heavy of machine oil, took mw a solid day of cleaning, soaking and boiling to get the smell out.
besides that I rebuilt all mine with Ni200 to use with a DNA40 anyway.

confirmation or not the wick should not be able to break apart/disintegrate between the fingers like that

That was my gut reaction. They hadn't been burned either and the hole in the center of the mesh didn't cover that area (as some seemed to think was put in for the Atlantis). Just seemed odd. I almost bought a Delta II last week with the expectation they were all cotton and nothing else. I wasn't expecting this.

I saw a post somewhere else that claimed the long strip was sterile cotton 'wound packing' material. I didn't research it but there was a link to Amazon for it.

I don't want to jump on any premature conclusions. I was just surprised to see it and thought others might want to be aware of it.

...!!!!!
I just ordered a GS Air BECAUSE of the Aspire BVC material.
I don't want mystery (ANY) crumbly fibers in my lungs!

I have had it.
Going to get a Kayfun, do my own coils, and start DIY juice.
Much better for my health, piece of mind and wallet.

Get a lemo instead, or if you want to dual coil a goblin.

Just for the record--GS Air coils have been ripped apart and examined--no ceramic/fiberglass paper in sight. :)

Getting an RBA is always a good idea, though. :D
