Let me first start by saying that I beg of everyone not to turn this into any sort of hate thing in the slightest. I merely made an observation and realize that I am not in all areas of the country so they layout is probably different. Mods...if it gets out of hand...feel free to do what you need to do.

So, I have been on the forum for a little while now and have noticed some things as far as it pertains to demographics. Additionally, out in public I have seen a very similar sampling and was curious what everyone else is seeing out there. From what I have seen we all seem to fit a fairly narrow demographic majorily (I surely realize that there are exceptions to all of this). Has anyone noticed this phenomenon in their own local vaping community and here on the forums as well? If so, why do you think this is? Perhaps it is as simple as the fact that certain demographics ARE indeed vaping, but just not the type to get on forums and talk about it, lol.

It concerns me for a variety of reasons that it does not seem so diverse as it should. For starters, EVERY SMOKER, regardless of race, nationality, creed, etc. should know the benefits and encouraged to seek if vaping is something they want to try.

Also, the more diverse the movement for freedom in vaping, the better - as with any cause. Otherwise the impact is seen as less for bans and regulations.

Thoughts?

Mike

I apologize. I didn't intend it to be vague. Basically what I am saying is what is everyone seeing in terms of sex, age, race, etc. (i.e. demographics) of those who are vaping because it seems to me that what I have observed in my corner of space and time is that it seems to be a lot of the same...not very diverse. I was wondering if this is just a matter of small sample size or how it really is. And IF my observations are shared by others, why do you think that is?

Ok, so what I'm getting is you want to know what demographics we see vaping in our local communities. What I see in public is mostly men in their late teens and 20's vaping on the streets, in cars, etc. In B&Ms I see lots of the same group, plus a lot of 30's-60's men and some middle-aged women. Regarding ethnic groups, its a pretty mixed bag here--I've seen a number of African American, Hispanic, and Asian men of various ages vaping, but to be honest, no women from those groups, vaping or in stores. But it is the younger men who seem to have no problems vaping anywhere in public...

Here in the uk its pretty even all ages and mainly ex heavy smokers, that being said id have to say if you did a survey on high end mech mods and sub ohm coils and cloud chasing then id guess that would be 18-25 at about 75%,nothing against it as they are vaping and not smoking but doubt its doing the world wide regulation impending on us all any good!:2c:

shelzmike, you may get an answer to your question if you are honest with yourself and ask straight forward questions and provide clear statements. I don't think you have much understanding about demographics (it involves a lot of math) as you have not provided demographic information. Why not just tell us about whatever "phenomenon" you have observed in your "own local vaping community and here on the forums" directly, specifically and succinctly? There is no need to hide in vague terminology. You don't have the right of free speech on a public internet forum that you don't own but you might get better answers if you write clearly.

6992 kilometers from home...
I saw someone with an eGo once...

At my home away from home- Prague CZ, vapers are everywhere- all ages. Students, Bohemian types, men and women in business suits...All white, but that's Prague... All range of vape gear, but more eGo style devices, but that's what's on the street. The mods come out at the bars and clubs...

All the vapists I've ever been in contact with are communists. We are united, and have dedicated every effort to overthrowing the Harding administration. We will succeed.

Seriously? What kind of question is this?

Vapers I know range in age between 18-80+. They are male and female, democrat, republican, citizens of the US, Europe, Australia, and the Far East. I can find only 2 commonalities between us:

1. We have all smoked tobacco products for some duration of our lives.
2. We are all interested in vaping as a better path.

The majority of vapers I've seen out and about are male, mid-late 20's to early 30's--usually sub-culture types (tats, low riders, hoodies, etc), although I have seen a couple of "regular joe" types. I myself am (sadly) a near-to-middle-aged female, white collar conservative libertarian. I don't think there are too many of us out there.

For some reason most vaper's I've encountered in Orlando have been young males.

My guess is with younger people, they are not switching to e-cigs because of health issues like older vapers, they are switching because e-cigs are cool (and counter-cultural and edgey, judging by the news coverage). I'd be willing to be a significant minority were also non-smokers.

Or at least not tobacco smokers. :)

I'm 72, a grandmother, and a great-grandmother. Also pretty much known as a liberal heathen in my family.:D Looks can be deceiving.

Strange, now that I think about it I don't think I have ever seen anyone "out and about" vaping. I have noticed that the B&M stores in my area seem to cater to different age groups (maybe I should say have customers of different age groups). One generally has an older crowd (40+) while the another generally has the younger crowd (20-30). The stores are run differently; one has a TV going with music videos all the time, the other doesn't. One is owned by a gentleman in his 50's and the other has employees who are much younger (not sure I have ever seen the owner of that one).

One of the owners told me that his clients are generally 30+ so he doesn't have the lounge atmosphere in his store.... it makes you wonder if it is the area they are located in, the way they set up and manage their stores or the demographics of vapers...

We only have a few B&M's, and I've only been in one--it did have a lounge, the owner is around 50 but his employees are in their twenties, and the one time I was in there the only other customer was a guy in is mid 40's learning how to get his Fin cartridge refilled.
