i let mine soak in 91 percent isopropyl alcohol until it comes out as a stream and then run them under hot water. sometimes i'll let them soak in some Listerine after doing the alcohol bath prior to washing them out blow out the excess water and let them dry overnight. it's worked for me so far and i haven't lost one yet. i've had ones that give a horrible burnt flavor and after doing that several times they work great again.

i haven't heard of anyone using denatured alcohol so i'm not sure how it would work. isopropyl is cheap enough you might as well buy some. denatured alcohol does work great for getting tree sap off car paint though.

if you hear a gurgling sound, your atty is flooded. just blow it out on a paper towel and put the cart back in. blow into the cart side and have the battery side towards the towel. if it's flooded you should get a bunch of liquid coming out.

when would be the time to clean your attys?

A good time to clean atty's is when they feel clogged. When I say 'feel clogged' I mean, when they are hard to draw through them. You can blow out the juice trapped in them but sometimes they will still feel clogged. Here is a video of how I clean them. I don't let them air dry for a period of time like the video states. I just blow out the 91% isopropyl alcohol that I use after a good soak and start using them. You will know when they are clean because after the soak I can blow through them pretty easily. And I don't use any water to clean them. Just the alcohol.
