i have some new atty's that i just got the other day but before i started using them i cleaned them with a syringe & some denatured alcohol...i got the idea from a vid i saw on you tube...the guy said he cleans them that way when he gets new atty's to get rid of the taste 'cause he said when you get new atty's they come with some sort of primer or coating on them...also he does that when he changes flavors, anyway i drip so when i put the atty on my battery & dripped my juice in it, it dosen't vape well, i noticed that inside the atty there's what looks like fibers like wick meterial like found in zippo lighters am i supposed to remove that first before i vape? it vapes great for a bit then nothing, i'm not sure what to do can someone help out please, thanks :vapor:

Sorry, I'd typed several paragraphs before I realized you questions were beyond my expertize. Particularly when you say it vapes great for a bit, then nothing. I'll exit quietly, confident that the better versed will chime in.

I would offer that, no, do not remove the fibers (or wick).

Good luck, and good luck.

nonono!! dont remove it, ive recently bought 20 attys im stocking up and suppling my local friends. it is the wick, your atty coil is wrapped around that its usually tucked in the metal mesh the stuff that makes up the bridge and around it. anyway i have a few with the extra wick just poking or hanging out in there, if you pull it it will pull out the whole mix, you can heat up a paper clip and melt it back away or leave it both have worked for me

You can use the alcohol method to get rid of the primer and it probably does a better job, most just blow as much out as they can before use and the rest seems to burn off pretty quick. It's probably the best method to get rid of the previous flavor also if you want to go to the trouble again I find blowing them out and changing carts to be ok unless you're going to totally opposite liquids like from a sweet candy type to say a mild tobacco flavor but then you might come up with a great mix. I only use alcohol for major cleaning about once a week but everyone has their routine. If you do use alcohol once it's running clear and free then blow the access by putting the cart end in your mouth and blowing toward the battery(threaded end) then give it a few minutes to dry. Alcohol evaporates pretty fast so it shouldn't take long. Then put the atty on the batter and do a few quick pulses with the button to help burn the access off, don't hold the button down to log during this process, just pulse it and you can hear when it starts to burn off then you should be ready to go.

If you're dripping and not getting a good vape after a while you're probably not keeping it wet enough. You want to put 2 or 3 drops on the wire mesh you were referring to (and no, don't remove it) then hit it once or twice and put two or 3 more to get it good and wet, keeping it wet is key. When you start to notice the taste fading then drip another 2 or 3 drops onto the mesh.

ok. i was wrong. i just watched the utube vid. i figued the threads were sloppyness of the actuall wick the coil is wrapped around sticking out, since i dont drip i suppose they are funcional

Oh no... I wasn't trying to say you were wrong silly. I have only dripped since I started. Just got my first cartos in yesterday. I did what the guy in the video did because I thought I had an atty that had gone bad but it was just those little fiber things got burnt from the dripping. I took them out of that particular atty and it worked great. However, I keep them in all my other attys until stuff starts to taste burnt. I don't know, I am still new to all this. I just sit and watch videos a lot trying to learn. :)

I personally blow the primer fluid out of my atomizers. Four to five really good blows and drip 2-3 drops of my e-liquid onto the mesh and vape a time or two and drip again. I have been exclusively dripping now for about 2 months and have never had an atomizer get this burnt taste I read about so often. I also keep my atomizers wet with e-liquid, never running them dry. If vapor is low, I drip.
I did try the bring your atty back to life cleaning and did not get an atomizer to come back. I soaked and swirled, ran the alcohol and a couple others and never once saw any debris. When I first started vapeing/vaping I was able to get one atomizer back by putting PGA directly into the atomizer and shaking it, did this a couple times and then ran water through it. But since dripping-I never clean, just blow them out at night and leave to drain until the morning.
