Today I received two AW 18650 batteries in the mail that I purchased about a week ago.

I apparantly didn't realize the bottom of my mod was unscrewing, and the bottom and the battery cashed to the ground. The steel of the mod was fine, but I noticed a slight dent in the bottom side of the battery. You will be able to see it in the picture.

Is the battery safe to use? They were quite expensive and I really don't want to throw $10 in the trash.

I can't tell you weather it's safe or not. I can say that if the stuff inside the battery is damaged enough to cause a short inside the battery casing sometime down the road there is a chance that the battery will burn very hot and very vigorously. When that happens inside a mod, even with vent holes, it can become something of a pipe bomb.

I had a battery dent similar to yours because I dropped a mod with the battery in it. I never used that battery again. The uncertainty and the risk was not worth the $10 to me.
