On waiting for my refurb Reo's from Rob I have caught up to date with the new world of Reo ownership and will soon have the new contacts. I have read about Deoxit Gold and from what I have read this is the new noalox for the gold contacts.

If it is gold contacts then why would you need to apply anything to a purest metal?

I have watched many of SuperX's superb informative videos and he uses a pen of Deoxit Gold and after some shopping I cannot see anywhere in the UK that sell these pens so would the liquid Deoxit Gold suffice?

I use the liquid on my contacts and bats. Just be sure to get the 100% solution.

As for why to use it, well, Rob would say reasonable builds (>1.0ohms) wouldn't need it with the new contacts. Others, however, swear by its ability to reduce/eliminate arc'ing between the firing pin and the battery when running flat top bats and lower ohm builds. It's also used as a hedge against voltage drop due to buildup on the contacts.

Well, I will be sticking with the Noalox because I bought a huge life time supply bottle before I realized how long it would really last.

I should google some other uses for it.

Hands down. Deoxit is much better than Noalox. It's so much easier to apply (thin; non greasy), and doesn't cause firing delays when it gets cold. It may be higher, but over time... it's worth the cost.

Here's a sample kit of the Deoxit products to try.

...but I'd just go ahead and get the Deoxit Gold Pen.

So I just realized I got the Deoxit 100% solution pen and not the Deoxit Gold. I have both the old contacts and the new ones. Should be okay for both, huh?

The "100% solution" should just indicate the formula of the goop, not whether it's the cleaner or the conditioner.

Just cause Dioxit rightfully stole the spot light for Reo contacts it doesn't mean Noalox is a 2nd rate product and it has lots of uses...smear it on your batt terminals of your car, smear it in your trailer pigtail, if you have extension cords you use outside, smear some on the prongs and plug it into the other end a few times to get it in there, Xmas light connections that sit out in the rain...in fact any exterior outlet and light bulb socket on your house would love some (you ever twist a bulb out of it's base because it was seized in the socket?...that's where Noalox shines)...just be mindful that it does conduct so don't goop it on, a little goes a long way

Hmmmmmm, never thought of using it on the battery terminals in a car, that's a great idea considering I had to clean up a mess on my terminals this weekend. And the day before that, I struggled removing a light bulb that was stuck in the socket. Since I have a 500 year supply of Noalox, I think I'll put it to work!
